Bonam Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Which is not something I do....I don't even spend a lot of time on this forum, unlike some people who seem to be here 24/7 and post 50 or 60 comments a day! I'm too old to care about trends these days....which you know very well is not something that young people, especially teenagers, can escape from! You brought up the average and the trend so clearly you care about it to some extent, at least enough to post about it. As for young people, again, that's an over generalization. I encounter this in such a wide range of threads, it's becoming very frustrating. Whether right or left, most posters on this forum think young people are some homogeneous bloc of mindless automatons. That's really not the case. Opinions and behaviors of young people are no less dynamic or varied than that of any other age group. Sometimes I swear all the oldies on these forums have completely forgotten what they were like when they were in their teens or twenties. The advertising they get bombarded with tells them they don't look right, don't have the right clothes, or can't afford their own car. Most people today are like hamsters running on their spinning wheel, never getting enough of what they think they need....and that's the magic fuel of our consumer-driven economy! The extent to which people are affected by advertising varies widely from individual to individual. Associate with some rational and intelligent people and the world really does not look so grim as you constantly portray it to be. Quote
