Economic cycles

The Liberals were strapped with a $42-billion deficit when they were elected in 1993, left by Mulroney. They wiped it out. That has meant an additional $3 billion in interest payments each and every year that they've put back into our social programs. They have paid down $50 billion in debt, produced seven consecutive budgets (the first time that's been done since Confederation and the only G7 country to do so last year and this year) and they created three million jobs. The Liberals' claims that they have brought this country to the forefront of developed countries economically are backed by clearcut FACTS! :D

How big was the debt and deficit when Mulroney took over? I'd think that Trudeau's social programs were not free.......

And none of that had anything to do with NAFTA ?

The Liberal advantage.

10 year US boom economy

Growth in Europe

Low interest rates in the US, Asia and Europe

GST

NAFTA

Cut 25billion is transfer payments

So which of the 3 million jobs did they produce? Maybe they had a little help from the Harris government. In BC we became a have not province. Should I blame the Liberals for that? I personally thought the provincial NDP had more to do with it.

Anyone think Jacqueline is some kind of robot program run by the Liberal Party? She doesn't debate or answer questions, just posts the same nonsense in every thread.

well actually, now that we have some ultra corporate feudalists in power her in b.c. you will notice that they are desperate to prove that there has been anything except a huge demise in the bc economy (one mp spouting off that moving truck rentals to bc are up!).

getting back to the 90's. every party on earth is going to try to take responsibility for something that didn't even happen. the rise of "dumb money" in the form of "privitised" retirement investment was the major creator of this bull economy which in the end turned out to be about as valuable as the paper it was printed on. the only people who made money in the 90's were those who new what the game was and when it came to an end then most "dumb money" was much poorer than they had been at the beginning of the decade.
