Arizona Senator Jon Kyl announced that he will not seek re-election in 2012. The great state of Arizona (my winter retreat) deserves someone who can capably fill his shoes. Congressman Flake already indicated that he is interested.

But, here is Joe Arpaio, the legendary sheriff of Maricopa County:

It is to be hoped that before he resigns his current post he will find a replacement for his job someone who would be as capable a replacement as he would be for Senator Kyl.
