Under the popular leadership of Jack Layton, the New Democratic Party is eyeing British Columbia and urban Ontario as key spots to capitalize on the Liberal backlash that's sweeping the country. maplesyrup Posted May 27, 2004 Author Report Posted May 27, 2004 Once a Liberal redoubt, Hamilton is now home to an energized NDP They call it the Sheila Effect.And Dave Christopherson is convinced it will not only help the New Democratic Party to a seat in the country's quintessential working-class city, but will topple a popular cabinet minister along the way.
