You tell me the meaning of these maps. If you don't understand them to mean that Jesus himself couldn't get elected as an NDP candidate in a rural riding, post-Romanow, then you don't know as much about politics as you think you do, and certainly not as much about Saskatchewan politics. I'll even throw in these ones to help you follow the visible history, though they are less direct in telling what folks in the coffee shops were saying. (There was a lot of talk about 'None of the above' as a ballot option in '95.) I wish WIKI obliged with the two preceeding them, too. : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SK1995.png http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SKElection1991.png Quote "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!" — L. Molly Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 You nailed it, Topaz. Rae and Devine should stand side by side as cautionary tales for Harper. This pattern... the fine populist principles touted by neophytes, shucked aside for expediency's sake, the smug, partisan 'We're right because we're us and not them.'... is all too familiar. Quote "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!" — L. Frank Baum "For Conservatives, ministerial responsibility seems to be a temporary and constantly shifting phenomenon," -- Goodale
fellowtraveller Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 However, if the Liberal presence safeguarded against the worst of the nasty, ill-considered intentions, put a lid on some of the worst of the smarm, and firmly reminded them that the money they are handling really does belong to the people of Canada...That is one of the funniest things I've ever read here, imagine the Liberals being concerned about taxpayers money! And before we apply for sainthood for Doer and Calvert, how many of those 'balanced budgets' were done with the aid of significant injections equalization money intio their operating budgets every year? It is much easier to be a 'fiscal jeanius' when Daddy pays the bills. Quote The government should do something.
Molly Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Jeeze, Fellow traveller, maybe you should be the one to tell us all about Mr. Devine's guardianship of the books. Then you can move on to Mulroney while you are at it. If you make a list of the last 30 years worth of fiscal f***ups, how many Liberals are on the list? Quote "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!" — L. Frank Baum "For Conservatives, ministerial responsibility seems to be a temporary and constantly shifting phenomenon," -- Goodale
fellowtraveller Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 If you make a list of the last 30 years worth of fiscal f***ups, how many Liberals are on the list? Since they are the Natural Ruling Party of Canada and have mostly done just that for most of the last 140 years, tey would have to be pretty much all of Volume one of the list. Oh wait, unless you're one of those Objective Liberals who thinks Trudeau was a tightwad and Adscam was all a misunderstanding, no Liberals involved there...... Thanks for providing another chuckle by trying to goad me into defending Grant Devine, you've bypassed the strawman and laid on the whole crop. Quote The government should do something.
