Lots of times it was a Liberal. Occasionally we hear something bad about an NDP politician. What's your point? punked Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Did anyone read the article? No one knows what the Senators job was at the company, no one knows if he was involved in the bidding, and no one knows if the contract was the lowest one. Yah could be something I hope there is an investigation, but I gave the Liberal the benefit of the doubt on AdScam I am willing to do the same for the Conservatives. Quote
capricorn Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 BPR president Pierre Lavallee is registered as having donated $250 to the Conservative party eight days after the event.--- Four months after the reception and fundraiser, Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridge Inc. (JCCBI) awarded the $1.4-million contract to BPR and the consortium. A $250.00 kickback for a contract worth over a million hardly seems worth it. Argus Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 (edited) The saying, "what goes up must come down" may apply here for the Tories. Senator Leo Housakos, was employed by a Montreal company that recieve 1.4 million from the Fed. stimlus contract. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politi...article1328339/ There's no evidence this guy had anything to do with the bid. It wasn't a big amount. The company says he wasn't involved and was actually with a subsidiery company. He says he didn't even know about it and never lobbied anyone. The federal bureacrats say it was a completely open bidding process approved by an independant board. Looks like the Globe and the Liberals are again grasping at straws in a somewhat desperate effort at finding some hint of corruption. capricorn Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 There's no evidence this guy had anything to do with the bid. It wasn't a big amount. In addition, BPR will not receive the full $1.4million. BPR is only one of the consortium's three companies. A consortium of engineering-consulting firms specializing in major projects (BPR, Cima +, and Axor) will provide contract administration and oversee all work, in addition to providing traffic management during all phases of the project. http://www.rocktoroad.com/content/view/881/38/ I could find no evidence that BPR took the lead in submitting the bid. capricorn Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 From a Liberal news release today. Liberals add eight more complaints; Fifty-five Conservative MPs signed $594 million in false chequesThe expansion of the Liberal probe comes as numerous examples of unethical excessive partisanship were uncovered over the weekend: ---- Conservative caucus member Leo Housakos was found to have benefitted from infrastructure contracts. http://www.liberal.ca/en/newsroom/media-re...n-false-cheques http://www.liberal.ca/en/newsroom/media-re...n-false-cheques If the Liberals have evidence that Leo Housakos benefited from contracts, whey haven't they called in the RCMP? Why stop at a complaint with the Ethics Commissioner? And about "false" cheques. Isn't that synonymous with signing "bad" cheques which in common terminology means "fraudulent" cheques. Again, this is a criminal act. Why haven't the Liberals alerted the RCMP of these fraudulent acts? Inquiring minds want to know. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Argus Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 If the Liberals have evidence that Leo Housakos benefited from contracts, whey haven't they called in the RCMP? Why stop at a complaint with the Ethics Commissioner? The Liberals better be able to back up their allegation that he benefited. I don't think saying "well, since he was a member of the board of a subsidiary then he benefited" is going to cut it in a lawsuit. Molly Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Let's see the lawsuit. Zachary Young Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 This seems like a much lesser crime than the stimulus package itself. This is retail corruption, where wholesale exists in plain view. Quote
