Riverwind
There is a hula going down in Quebec and the separatist think they ride Climate change in the polls. I thought Environmentalism is a losing topic in Politics.Quebec is a special case because all of the hydro power makes Quebequers believe they can be snide and lecture other people while doing nothing themselves. But ask them to make sacrifices such as ending to the electricity subsidies which promote over consumption of a valuable limited resource (e.g. GHG free electricity) then Quebequers would likely reject CO2 controls as quickly as Texans. The other dynamic that makes climate change a potential political winner in Quebec is it provides a excuse to have the federal government extract more tax from Alberta's oil resources and spend that money in the nominally 'green' Quebec. A party like BQ does not care about Alberta votes so promoting such policies are a such voter getter for them.
