jdobbin Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...=uselection2008 Illinois congressman Rahm Emanuel has accepted the position of White House chief of staff in President-elect Barack Obama's future administration, Democratic officials confirmed Thursday. The position won't be entirely new for Emanuel, who has already served as a political and policy aide in the Clinton White House. I expect we will see the positions start filling in quickly. Emanuel is a very interesting character. In 1991, he left the Clinton campaign to come to the defence of Israel as a volunteer for the military during the Gulf War. He can be hyperpartisan and I can remember hearing word of him making an Animal House-like speech where he listed Clinton's enemies and shouted out "Dead!" for each. The job he has now is a gatekeeper and protector but he certainly won't be able to talk to a person like Tony Blair like has in the past and get away with it. Quote
