Bryan Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 http://mynews.ctv.ca/home_election?siteT=election Are you registered candidate for the federal election? Do you belong to a party registered with Elections Canada? Please include info on your riding, your website url and other relevant info in your registration and notes Upload the video: What would you like to tell Canadians, in 2 minutes or less? Now this I like. I've been one of the strongest opponents to Elizabeth May (and other fringe candidates) being in the national debate, but that doesn't mean I don't think there should be things in place that can allow them to be in the public eye until they do get enough public support to be legitimate front runners. This is a concept I would really like to see all the major news outlets not only develop further, but actually promote. It would be really easy to tie it into mainstream reporting too. Something along the lines of: "we also asked these questions of representatives of the x, y, and z parties. For their answers, please go to our website", Etc. Quote

How is the Green Party a "fringe" party when they're polling higher than the Bloc most of the time? Quote
Bryan Posted October 12, 2008 Author Report Posted October 12, 2008 How is the Green Party a "fringe" party when they're polling higher than the Bloc most of the time? Not an official party. Not a single elected member, EVER. I don't think the Bloc is legitimate either, but for very different reasons. Quote

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if you on consider the Cons to be legitimate, so who really cares what you think. In a democracy, any party that receives votes and has a political message is legitmate. White supremacists have a message, and people have voted for them. Are they all legitimate? Quote
Mr.Canada Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Political parties should be able to claim whatever they want as their platform without persecution. Voters are the ones who decide who is legitimate. Quote "You are scum for insinuating that isn't the case you snake." -William Ashley Canadian Immigration Reform Blog
Mad_Michael Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Political parties should be able to claim whatever they want as their platform without persecution. Voters are the ones who decide who is legitimate. Sorry, political immunity applies ONLY to politicians inside the House. Anyone else is subject to full legal responsibility for their words/actions. This is as it should be. Quote

White supremacists have a message, and people have voted for them. Are they all legitimate? Name one white supremacist that has run in an election. Legitimacy is not a relative concept. Just because you do not agree with a party's platform, doesn't mean that it isn't legitimate. Quote
