scribblet Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 I guess this is where the attack start getting stronger and the booga booga rhetoricf starts up again. I'm going to predict that the NDP picks up more support as the Liberals lose more seats. I doubt that Dion can turn things around at this point. http://canadianpress.google.com/article/AL...x8Z1TPLRzIEvsDg Poll suggests Liberal troubles are growing, as Dion moves to attack OTTAWA — A new poll suggests Liberal Leader Stephane Dion is having trouble gaining political traction, even with voters traditionally drawn to the Grit brand, and is bleeding support on all sides. While Dion and the Liberals slip, The Canadian Press Harris-Decima survey indicates Prime Minister Stephen Harper's support is hovering close to levels that could produce a majority government. "The Liberals seem to be losing the battle for the centre to the Conservatives, the battle on the left to the NDP, and they're losing the battle for the environmental vote to the Green party," said Harris-Decima president Bruce Anderson. The poll, taken over four days and released Saturday, showed the Tories maintaining 38 per cent support nationally while the Liberals were at 23 per cent, down two points from the previous day's figures. The survey was conducted Sept. 16-19, just as the Tories were trying to weather the storm over the bad listeriosis jokes of Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz and Harper's refusal to fire him The poll indicates the NDP picked up two points from Friday's results, rising to 17 per cent. The Green party was steady at 12 per cent, while the Bloc Quebecois had eight per cent nationally but led the pack in Quebec. Anderson said that, while the changes are within the margin of error, the overall trend suggests the Liberals are leaking support and Dion seems to be the problem. "It really is coming down to a question of Stephane Dion," he said. Quote Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province
cybercoma Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 On Canada AM this morning, the news anchor that was interviewing Jack Layton made the suggestion that the NDP are looking at a possibility of becoming the official opposition. Jack Layton's reply was that he's trying to become PM not the opposition. Anyway, it's likely not possible given the FPTP electoral system, but it says something that the the NDP could potentially move into the #2 spot among the popular vote. Quote
