Tory attempts at media control backfired big time today.

When media buses pulled in for a rally in Ile Perrot, reporters did what they always do after a long trip -- they tried to get off. But Tory wagonmaster Dave Penner, sitting in the front seat with communications director Kory Teneycke, said no, we'd have to wait. We asked why; he wouldn't say.

Then it dawned. Far across the parking lot, a dozen or so protesters. We insisted we be let out to get some shots and see what they had to say. Again, Penner said no.

So we asked the TV cameras to start rolling on the "blockade" and, miraculously, Penner let us by and the bus door opened.
