Jobu Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Anyone from the Halton area who can report what the reaction is, if any, on the already questionably ethical Garth Turner and his latest controversial efforts? My understanding is that this riding is in play, and I'm wondering if this might be determinative. http://www.stephentaylor.ca/2008/09/garth-...er-gets-caught/ Quote
Ontario Loyalist Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 At least Garth Turner speaks his mind. The guy is wildly popular as a result. Quote Some of us on here appreciate a view OTHER than the standard conservative crap. Keep up the good work and heck, they have not banned me yet so you are safe Cheers! Drea
jdobbin Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 My understanding is that this riding is in play, and I'm wondering if this might be determinative. Considering that CBC is reporting that the Tory candidate did the same thing...probably not. Quote
Cameron Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Interesting. I can't say that politicians don't do it. When a news crew is around they will tend to find a neighbourhood that is friendly, or even a house that is a known supporter. Cameron Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Considering that CBC is reporting that the Tory candidate did the same thing...probably not. Why is the CBC reporting for a CPC candidate and a LPC cadidates only get's CPAC coverage? I'm not sure I understand how he was "speaking his mind" in trying to weasel out of having to give the interview, then throwing his campaign manager under the bus? Quote
Jobu Posted September 16, 2008 Author Report Posted September 16, 2008 Considering that CBC is reporting that the Tory candidate did the same thing...probably not. Really? I didn't see anything on CPAC about this or the CBC website. Can you provide a link? Thanks. Quote

Oh, I didn't click on the link, nor do I know what you're fretting about. I just can't stand people who join message boards specifically to bleet partisan nonsense. jdobbin Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 (edited) Really? I didn't see anything on CPAC about this or the CBC website. Can you provide a link? Thanks. From the Tory link and as reported on CBC Ormiston on the National. You can stream it if you want. Here is the discussion from the Tory link: http://stevejanke.com/archives/273468.php Actually, a Tory did do the same thing. In fact, in the same riding. CPAC rode along with Lisa Raitt to a local business....that just happened to be owned by one of the EDA Director's wife. Too bad that didn't get more play. Edited September 16, 2008 by jdobbin Quote

Give me a break. And acting like didn't know that? Phhht. capricorn Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Garth screwed up and got caught. CPAC did the right thing in pressing Garth for a public statement since CPAC's and their reporters' reputation was on the line. They cannot be seen to be partisan or complicit in providing photo ops for candidates. I visited Garth's blog and he has apologized for the incident. Garth is under the microscope and should be very careful not to commit gaffes that will be picked up by Conservative supporters. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. kengs333 Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 I watched this on CPAC last night and Garth didn't do the best job of extracating himself from the situation, but ultimately, who cares? I'm sure that the campaign was simply annoyed by CPAC's intrusion and set something up quickly to placate them. Quote

Not much detail there, I'll look into the other stuff. Quote
