Riverwind Posted August 9, 2008 Report Posted August 9, 2008 What compromise are denialists asking for? They say it isn't happening so therefore nothing needs to be done.Nobody argues against measures to improve energy efficiency nor to many people oppose investments in alternative technology. Almost everyone agrees that reducing our dependency on oil is important. Action on all of those things makes sense even if the models are completely wrong. The only thing that thinking people oppose is the obsession with reducing CO2 as soon as possible and at any cost. Quote To fly a plane, you need both a left wing and a right wing.

Almost everyone agrees that reducing our dependency on oil is important. Action on all of those things makes sense even if the models are completely wrong. The only thing that thinking people oppose is the obsession with reducing CO2 as soon as possible and at any cost. Some of the people argue though that all alternatives are too expensive compared to oil and if oil is America dependent, it should secure its supplies wherever they are in the world. That is not compromise. Others argue that CO2 science will never be settled and say no science is so therefore no action is necessary any time. That argument is still made by some on smoking even here. Quote
