Topaz Posted June 1, 2008 Report Posted June 1, 2008 This is my time to vent of what i think of Canada Post and the minister that changed the rules. If you live in the country and have your own mail box and the rules were you had to be 42-48 inches from the bottom of the box to the ground. Now they come out with a new rule to have it set at 42 inches to the ground. No problem? Well for me it was because we`ve only lived here and the guy who put the mailbox up, put in 20, 2.5 inch screws in the post to hold the box. Well, it wasn`t an easy task like it should have been but it got done and I wonder how the other 850,000 rural mailbox owners are ? Anyone with those green plastic all-in one boxes , they are 51 inches tall so they have to bury part of the box. Quote

They really don't need any exuse, it is just going. It all very well for seniors who drive but what happens to those who don't. Quote
Borg Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 (edited) If this is true, I will simply unbolt my 1/4 inch thick steel mailbox (no baseball bats survive!), take the backhoe and push the pipe in a few more inches - then replace the mail box. Probably due to the fact the majority of mail delivery folks are switching from pick-ups to small cars - hard to reach that mail box from way down there. Borg Edited June 2, 2008 by Borg Quote

Borg Yes that is what i thought too because we did get a different mailperson who has a small car, I'm more peeved with the former owner of the mailbox. Quote
