Liberal Targeting of Ethnic Groups Inconsistant with our Principles

I recently had the privilege to attend a training session for the Liberal Party. While I learned many useful and helpful campaign techniques, some of the training content did concern me. For example, when we were studying Voter Contact, one of the sub categories we examined was "targeting by ethnicity," as you can see below.

I am uncomfortable with our party targeting individuals and deciding on their usefulness or lack thereof simply based on their ethnicity. We are supposed to be a party of openness and inclusion, where all Canadians, regardless of race, religion, and background can feel comfortable and welcome.

I strongly encourage our Party to cease targeting voters based on ethnicity and instead focus on recruit the Canadian population as a whole.

Exactly which countries are you referring to? My ethnic friends are Canadians.

Most countries support their own citizens first. Few countries actively look for dark-skinned individuals who want to recieve social welfare payments at taxpayer expense.

I didnt say that. I said that few countries want foreigners over their own citizens. Canada does want foreigners in preference to locals.

Seems to me that Canada actively looks for people who want to come and live and work in Canada.

That may be what you meant, but it isn't what you said. People can have different ethnic backgrounds and still be Canadian. I don't see how you have jumped to talking about "foreigners" in this thread - it was about looking for votes from ethnic groups, and you have to be a Canadian citizen to be able to vote. Or do you see different levels of citizenship, based on skin colour or heritage?

It just seems treasonous to me to watch a white guy (like Bob Rae for example) championing the causes of Muslims. The same Muslims that the Liberals support also want the Liberals dead.

Like I said, most countries in the world are not full of idiots trying to change the country into another race. This seems to be what the Liberals are doing with their targetting of "ethnic" groups.

No, I believe most countries want foreigners; it's called immigration, and it bolsters the population, which, in turn, keeps the economy chugging along. If Canada didn't have immigration, well, there'd be no Canada. Foreign cultures, though, are a completely different matter. If you argue that the Liberal Party panders to foreign cultures, then I might be inclined to agree with you. However, they can't pander to foreign people because, as Melanie said, foreigners can't vote.
