Leafless Posted May 22, 2008 Report Posted May 22, 2008 Fear of being misunderstood as anti-French or anti-English is keeping Canadians from engaging in an overdue national debate about the country's federal bilingualism rules, says the head of a prominent Ottawa-based think-tank. Oh, come on. These 'official bilingualism', 'official languages', undemocratic, racist policies has been discriminating against English speaking Canadians for years with absolutely No invitation from the federal government to ever discuss why these discriminating policies were implemented initially. "They desperately wanted someone who spoke Mandarin, but the job had a bilingualism requirement for French and it was a huge constraint on the candidates they were going to be getting," she said."It sort of makes you go, 'Does that make sense?'" Outside of scrapping 'official bilingualism' and 'official languages' what else can be done outside of making official 'Mandarin'. And the list of languages to be made official, because of demand, will inevitably continue in our 'officially multicultural society'. http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/s...0a-4e3cde979a1f Quote
