Canuck E Stan Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 Higher CO2 level and higher heat inhibit plant growth in places already warm. From the same link: That should scare the hell out of people but I'm sure some people in Canada will continue to say: build coal plants for better crop production! As always when mentioning "people" in your posts..... "some people in Canada" in this post would of course always be Tories. ScottSA Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 From the same link:For instance, while higher temperatures will boost plant growth in cooler regions, in the tropics they may actually impede growth. A two-decade study of rainforest plots in Panama and Malaysia recently concluded that local temperature rises of more than 1ºC have reduced tree growth by 50 per cent (see Don't count on the trees). That should scare the hell out of people but I'm sure some people in Canada will continue to say: build coal plants for better crop production! Scare the hell out of people? Even if you had been honest in your disclosure of this info, and you haven't by a long shot, it's the best news I've heard all week! I don't know if you've noticed, but Canada is one of those "cooler places." Quote

Wild Bill Posted December 2, 2007 Report Posted December 2, 2007 I guess we'll put you in the "build more coal plants" category. I had thought that the biggest "build more coal plants" country was China...by a wide margin! OOPS! Sorry, I forgot that China and a few other countries are "special" and are entitled to pollute as much as they want, even if it makes our own efforts trivial in the grand total. According to some of the right wig here, China is onto the right idea because coal plants will help produce more crops. Quote
