The NHL looked at many things in Europe during the lockout. The players themselves were very dismayed at the European leagues once they had a year to live with them. No thanks they said. Not to mention....NFL Europe anyone? Bpmbed big time. The NHL cannot afford to even try. Quote

Think about it. Moscow, Prague, Stockholm.... All their best players are with the NHL. They'd have a heck of a time with a draft. I heard one guy on a Montreal radio show say he couldn't pronounce half the names of the Canadiens players. Too many consonants he said. About the Leafs, they could play to a half empty stadium no problem. The corporate seat sales is what keeps the bottom line healthy. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election.
