Cameron Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 Thanks for coming down to Kabul and giving us a moral boost. Why do we have this person spending our money, visiting places and "boosting Canadian values" around the globe. Kabul — The apparent resilience of children in Kabul as they play in the streets of Kabul, gives Governor-General Adrienne Clarkson hope that Afghanistan can one day be rebuilt.http://www.globeandmail.com/servlet/story/...Story/National/ Common! Afghanistan is going to rebuilt by hard work and international support. It is going to be rebuilt by forming its own government, and having its own infrastructure. The children are playing outside because that's what they've always done...But again, thanks for stopping by. Did you bring new equipment by any chance? I see Mrs. Clarkson as a aimlessly roaming figure-head of this country. I don't really know what she does, or if she has to do it. To me, we could be spending our money elsewhere, or change the role that she plays.... Communist_boy Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Wow some one on this board who hasnt been suked in by the conservative propaganda machine. The point you raise is an interesting one though. If you ask this question then you must also ask what we will do instead. If we abolish the govenor general then we move towards a more american style of government. If you ask this question then you must also This would not be much of a change as we already elected incompetent, bumbling idiots into office. What Canada needs is a uniquely Canadian system that would work for Canadians from BC to Ontario, and then again from NB to NL. we can forget about those pathetic excusses for Canadians in the middle. After all they wanna be known as Quebecouis rather than Canadian. Canada needs a united party, and government form that represent all parts and levels of society. Not just the right or left, east or west. One real problem is Quebec and Ontario having as much power as they do. That is what we must fix first, rather than who is appointed to what figure head job. KrustyKidd Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 No, I think that here is a no brainer. Get rid of the Queen's Representative in Canada. Unless of course we have to worry about Her Royal Highness's Troops cutting our heads off if we do. I don't so let's save a buck and get rid of the figurhead so we can throw her salary at the playing Afgan kids. Sides, it would be nice to see Adiranne working again, she would probably have a cleaner consience too. Quote We're Paratroopers Lieutenant. We're supposed to be surrounded - CPT Richard Winters
