I was listening to Bowie the other day and a parody of Ziggy Stardust popped into my head - focussed on the mayoral election, and how I felt about Ford, Smitherman, Rossi, etc.
Permit me to share - Hope you enjoy:
Ohh, no...
Rob Ford played the part,
rantin' good for 'Burbs and Angry,
who felt taxed too far
He played it Right hand;
a populist star
Became the zeitgeist man,
'spite Miller's still-strong brand
Rob Ford really spun,
lying eyes, Dennehy hairdo
Florida forgotten
Could lick 'em by pandering,
intolerance would stun
He came on so loaded, man
Service cuts with no plan
So where was Smitherman?
while this guy defined the campaign?
Mr. Nice Guy "incumbent"?
We'd prefer George Furious,
'though now Rocco-curious
Rob Ford's playing for time,
jiving with "not perfect" voodoo
The guy is just crass
Low-rent Harris;
such a one-note ass
Can he go all too far,
playing the inch-deep part?
Making love with his ego
Rob Ford believed his own bluster,
like a tax cut Messiah
If George thinks its a cakewalk
then the voters will balk
Ohh, no...
Rob Ford played the part

**** THE ORIGINAL BOWIE/ZIGGY STARDUST LYRICS ****
Ohh, yeah
Ziggy played guitar,
jammin' good with Weird and Gilly
And the Spiders from Mars,
he played it left hand
But made it too far
Became the special man,
then we were Ziggy's band
Ziggy really sang,
screwed up eyes and screwed down hairdo
Like some cat from Japan,
he could lick 'em by smiling
He could leave 'em to hang
They came on so loaded man,
well hung and snow white tan
So where were the Spiders?
While the fly tried to break our balls
Just a beer light to guide us
So we bitched about his fans,
and should we crush his sweet hands?
Ziggy played for time,
jiving us that we were voodoo
The kids were just crass, he was the nazz
With God given ass
He took it all too far,
but boy could he play guitar
Making love with his ego
Ziggy sucked up into his mind
Like a leper Messiah
When the kids had killed the man
I had to break up the band
Ohh, yeah
Ziggy played guitar
