$100 a month might not cover the full cost of daycare for my daughter. However I will gladly take $100 a month if its offered. I work 2 jobs to cover the $600 a month bill. Still, I do not support a state run daycare program. We don't need another half assed run social program that will be cronically underfunded. You would think our health care system would have taught some lessons. Oh! I forgot, lefties think failure is success!!!!

The gun registery has been nothing but a huge waste of taxpayers money. I personaly don't think it should have been done in the first place. However, it was, and scrapping the whole thing at this point would just compound that waste even more.

Yes maple you are right, it is something I could not experience because I am a canadian citizen. But it still doesn't negate the fact that anything the government does is by in large costly and inefficient, and usually does not provide the results it was set out to do. The simple truth of the matter is in the post 9/11 era people are more suspicious. It would be nice if the inquiry does provide the answers that the Arar family is looking for, but I truly doubt it will happen.

I try to be open minded and i do respect that other people have there own differing views in this country. I probably will never vote for the green party or the marijuanna party. But when I vote in each election one thing strikes me everytime. The Marxist/Lenninist Party, and the Communist party of Canada These are the only voices, views, parties i believe have no place on our ballots. They represent the complete opposite to everything that our democracy represents. I am just curious on others views with regards to this or to any of the other parties that appear on our ballots.

I completely agree with you Bro. Not to mention most inquiries are complete waste of time and money, and in the end never truly resolve anything. Most public inquiries get so bogged down in partisan politics (Sponsorship Scandal is prime example) that nothing gets accomplished. In the end they just usually pick some unlucky scapegoat and blame the whole mess on the individual or small group of individuals.

As long as those running the inquiry really want to find the truth. Otherwise, it will probably end up like the inquiry into the sponsorship scandal where nothing was accomplished other than to waste a whole lot of time, and probably more tax payers money.

Yes Reverend the Economy has done well under the liberals. However, what bothers me about the results of last nights election, is a large number of canadians decided that the liberals didn't need to be held accountable for there gross mis-management of public money. In the business world it's called misappropriation, and results in the guilty party going to jail.

The last thing I want to see happen to Canada, is the country run by the NDP. My taxes are high enough as it is!! But in response to your question, I really don't think that the NDP will ever get the support it needs to become a governing party.

At least Mike Harris did what he promised in his election campaigns. Unlike our current premier, who of course sticks his foot in his mouth everytime he opens it.

400,000 people is not a very good comparison either. Thats less people than in Toronto. Logistically, they don't need as many hospital beds, and equipment as we do. Therefore per capita they don't have to spend as much on there health care. The size of the country does matter. Luxembourg is not much bigger than PEI. Once again they do not require the facilities per capita that we do.

I think that premier's should stay out of the federal campaigns. The best example at the moment would be Dalton McGuinty, he has not helped the Liberal cause purely as a result of his unpopular budget. This is a quote from todays Ottawa Citizen: "Paul Martin's campaign team believes Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty is damaging the prime minister's election prospects every time he speaks, and have asked him to disappear from sight until the federal election is over." It is probably wise that premiers stay out of the federal elections unless otherwise asked by leaders of the federal parties to participate. They may be of the same party in principle but keep in mind that premiers are only interested in what is good for there Province.

The plain and simple fact of the matter is that there are not enough people in Canada to support our health system much longer. As the population gets older, and the problem with obecity among youger people increases it is just going to compound the problem. This is the same reason why our taxes are so high in comparison to other countries. 30 million people is quite a small number for such a large country.

You make a good point about our aging population and its effects on health care. I however believe that the only true remedy to the situation is a 2 tier health system (I know this is a bad word) but its the only way to keep our universal health care system. Its time to let those people that can afford (and wish to pay for treatments out of pocket) be given the right to do so. Thereby, aleviating the public system for those not wanting to, or not able to afford private care. Canadians already go to the U.S. for medical treatments and pay for it out of pocket. This money is then removed from our economy. I believe its a matter of choice, freedom of choice as to where and how we get our medical coverage. and a much better approach than the ontario liberals have taken with there health premium.
