  1. The NDP has had good ideas and continue to have some, but going on about credit card, bank and cellphone fees when we have an economic crisis on our hands is not going to make the NDP a viable alternative. While they are issues that should be looked into, Canadians can see we have far more pending issues. For a national party to be talking about credit card, bank and cellphones fees kinda makes them seem amateurish and not looking at the big picture.
  2. I think a mandatory vote would be a good thing or at least couldn't hurt. We are mandated to do many other things... so what's one more thing we have to do? Making people cast a ballot would at least make people give elections a second thought. I do think though that if we made voting mandatory on the ballot there should be an option for "no one," so those that still have no opinion or don't like any of the available politicians, still have an option. Just making people remember they have to cast a ballot could make them give it a second thought and invest some time in learning about the parties, politicians and policy.
  3. I know at my school we all had to sing the anthem and we were heavily encouraged by our teachers. When I reached high school we no longer had to sing, but stand quietly and reflect which I'm almost sure none of us were doing. I think the anthem has somewhat lost touch with many Canadians, ones my age at least. I know lots of people my age who love this country and think its great but don't think singing a song has anything to do with patriotism. Sending death threats because someone has an alternate idea like the principal is unpatriotic.
