Some lawyer's routinely counsel their client's to commit perjury and bring claims which are frivolous, vexatious, inflammatory and damaging to the other party even though there are provisions in the Criminal Code, Charter, and Rules of Professional Conduct which prohibit such conduct. In 1995, the Senate of Canada proposed to amend the Criminal Code to a) bring such lawyers before the justice system, and hold such lawyers accountable. Nothing in general would have changed except for the criminal accountability if it could be proven that the lawyer misled, obstructied or deceived the court. Parliament did not pass the Senate Bills which means that a lawyer can still violate a citizens Charter rights, human rights and common law rights with relative impunity. This thread will subsequently lead to another poll which recognizes that most if not all Canadian Law Societies are self-insured which simply means that the Law Society will ironically a) defend a wayward members (the lawyer) criminality , before they will protect the public interest rights
