Jack Layton supported the legalization of marijuana.

Tommy Douglas would not have done so , He would have thought about the children of this country first.

Jack Layton supported same sex marriages .

Tommy Douglas would never have done that. He was a very religious man .

Tommy Douglas would roll over in his grave if knew where the NDP were today.

He would have likely started a new party.

I knew him well , and my best guess would be that he would call the new party Canadian Democratic Reform.

I know Tommy Douglas was a very honest man.

He would not like the greed , hate and selfishness of most left leaning Canadians today . In his mind it would not harmonize with the compassion he had for others.

I don't like the idea of Jack Layton associating his name with that of Tommy Douglas. If Tommy Douglas was here today he would agree with me. :)

Jack is a follower of Tommy Douglas, the man who brought Canadians healthcare, and has no use for deficit financing. Jack was on a television station in BC on Friday evening, and stated that he believes in balanced budgets.

Tommy Douglas was a fine gentlemen and a great Canadian.

I had the pleasure of knowing him as a family friend for over 30 years. He attend family dinners, picnics , I also had the pleasure of attending a Burns night dinner where he was guest speaker . I sat beside him as he recited Burns poetry with a passion I have never seen before, by memory, as he also did with his speeches.

If Tommy Douglas was here today he would not be supporting Jack Layton nor the NDP party.

Tommy and I sat one night and talked about his CCF days and the NDP party. His dreams for our country and the NDP are not what the party has become today.

He would leave the NDP and join the Conservative Party because he was a responsible person and a clear visionary.

I am a boss and I take a chance by employing someone with no experience and unleash them on my customers. I spend $1000.00 at least to train them and then I pay taxes(workers comp, cpp, ect.) for the right to employ them. Get off it. I just want to run a business and if I keep an employee past 500 hours they make more than $8.00 an hour because they will earn it.

As for the $2 dollar spread. This is 25%. Look in the past and you will find a comparative percentage in other provinces.

Willy you are the type of man I would want to work for! I work hard and know I am good at what I do. Keep up the good work ! My daughter is working and going to college, Its people like you that give her a job while going to college. I am going to ask others , why would an employer give a high wage to someone who is untrained?

  4. To all on this thread

Stealing is stealing and against the law

doesn't matter who you are , or what your gender is , or if you are gay or straight, nor does your politial party have anything to do with it!

If you do the crime you pay the time!

Also you are inoccent till proven guilty.

    Let the courts decide.

Which one is more moderate and intelligent, Stephen Harper, or Paul Martin.

I would say Stephen Harper is more intelligent than Paul Martin !

Paul Martin lost all crediablity with me yesterday when Labor leader Dave Haggard , former NDP member in B.C will run in New Westminsters/ Coquitlam in the coming election for liberal party..

Whats next a merger between NDP and LIberals?

    What connection ?

In Canada, with little or no government enforcement of the same corrupt union systems, employers will continue to pay money into sham union funds to buy labour peace and as a cost of doing business. Meanwhile, many rank-and-file union members will continue to get ripped off by organized criminals and by elected union officials who can't resist the siren of easy union money.

And don't expect Canadian labour leaders and union workers to speak out against union corruption. Their code of "solidarity forever" is a code of silence. It's a code that encourages union corruption. Because of this, our politicians have to get serious about corruption and criminal activity within some unions. Government needs to enact legislation to force unions to operate ethically and transparently, so that the best interests of Canadian business and its employees are protected. If they don't, organized crime may abandon US union headquarters and move to the safety of the branch operations in Canada because it's the new land of union opportunity.

Another good reason why we need right to work laws so that all workers rights are better protected...

  7. New York City. Organized crime has a substantial foothold into the labor unions in the New York City area. Experienced investigators from the Labor Department list over 100 unions with members of organized crime or their associates in positions of power.

I wonder if Canada has done an investigation into organized crime and labour unions in Canada?

I find it a bit odd that no one responds when I make comments about the connection between labour unions and organized crime or mafia

The reality in Canada today is that the non-unionized Average Joe working in the private sector pays high taxes so that unionized public sector workers can have better benefits than the Average Joe.

You are so right 100% right :)

It is impossible to reform health or education without the approval of union leaders (unless someone takes them on directly à la Thatcher).

Yes we need an Iron Lady to take on all unions in Canada!

Do you think Belinda Stronach would be up to it ? :)

  9. BigGunner

Union haters are trying to invoke the politics of greed and jealousy and hate. 'oh look at the bad union man who gets $40/hour' (even though his rate is probably $19/h). By red-baiting union members, the union-hater tries to make everyone else jealous and angry at unions so they support so-called 'right-to-work' laws. Once passed, these laws will ensure that union rates will drop...but it also implies that everyone elses drops too.

Give me a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" right to work "laws would be good for people who choose not to be part of the unions . I will never join a union because they have organized

crime at the top ... I would not want to be involved with such people. People who belong to unions close their eyes to this fact because it helps their pocketbook.

Labour unions code of "solidarity forever" is a code of silence. It's a code that encourages union corruption

I agree with you 100% about a connection between labour unions and organized crime....

I just read a report on Organized Crime and Union labour sent to the White house by US goverment.

The picture that it presents is very frightening. At least 4 international unions are completely dominated by men who either have strong ties to or are members of the organized crime syndicate. A majority of the locals are in most of the major cities of the United States. These locals belong to International Brotherhood of Teamsters ,Hotel and Restaurant Employees Union , Labourers International Union of North America and International Longshoreman's Association unions ,are completely dominated by organized crime. The officials of these unions are firmly entrenched; there is little hope of removing them by a free election process. Convictions for misconduct have been sparse and when one corrupt official is removed another soon takes his place. The result has been a complete domination of certain industries by these hoodlums. Management personnel in the companies who must deal with these hoodlums have despaired at getting help from law enforcement authorities. They pay the price of labour peace so that they may survive. Then the cost is passed on to the consumer.

Do you think our unions in Canada are connected to the ones in the USA ?

Does that mean our hotel industry , longshoremen and teamsters belong to the same international unions in Canada?

I wonder if this is a threat to free competition in our economy?

  11. Are you willing to execute the almost 11,000 prisoners who are imprisoned for non-capital crimes?

This is a very stupid statement!

Using basic common sense greatly diminishes the chances you'll ever be victimized by violent crime.

So is this one! The violent crime can happen to anyone anywhere anytime! If you were in this kind of trouble you would not stop and use commom sense! I think you would fight for your life! Common sense has nothing to do with it. ( if a man is going to sexually abuse a child or a someone rapes a woman , that man will not stop and use common sense.

  12. I'll take this one step further - not only would I not change the current laws I would oppose any such changes. All the more so when they're based on passion rather than reason.

What do we do with the drug dealers who give drugs to the youth? They kill with the drugs they sell!I guess you are for legalizing marijana as well

Don't tell me its a soft drug they can lace it with other drugs.

So laws should not be changed to protect the inoccent !

It seems to me they have more rights than the rest of us.

Free food, free education, free tv , free porn, free phone sex ( $800.00 a call). and get paid as well...

  13. I now know why we have the laws we have today

People like yourself do not have guts to protect inoccent we will always have murders like the ones we have today because we do not have the death penlty. This country has become to soft!

If we want to protect our country we need to act.

Why has there been no protests about these offenders?

If you had to live with your child or wife murdered you may have a different opinion ,or one of your children missing.

  14. What laws would you change specfically and how would they prevent rape murder and child abduction?

I would bring back the death penalty for murder if it can be proven with DNA testing.

Why should we pay taxes to keep them in Jail?

In the case of missing children how are current laws inadequate since most missing children are runaways

I know most children who are missing are run aways !

But what should we do to protect the young children who go missing because of sexual preditors? One child is to many in that case.

We need tougher laws to keep sexual offenders from entering Canada from other countries.

We have our children and grandchildren to protect!

How would you go about bringing in the right laws in to protect Canadian children?

  15. So it's Jack, with his commitment to fiscal responsibility, social progress and democratic reform, all the way

Not likely ! Say no to Jack no NDP government this country is to smart for that!

We would become a third world country, if Jack layton was leader and Prime Minister.

We would have no money left ! I am going to vote PC

  16. Belinda has no business running for high office in this country at this time

I don't agree with you here Dennis! Maybe she is just what Canada needs , she is one of us . She has a clean business record smarts and beautiful. I think she means well and not a lier like most politians.

I can see her running and winning votes for the PC party.

She may not get in this year but watch for her in the future! :)

  17. If we are a peaceful nation how come we have such things happening in this country?

Rape ,murder, drive by shootings, abuse of children , and women . are not peaceful acts.

Our laws need to be changed to protect all Canadians .

I do not see this happening till a judge , politian, lawyer, or anyone in power loses a loved one .

Missing children , Michael Dunahee for one has been missing a long time! We should bring in some laws to protect them so they do not go missing!

This crime has no bearing on Canada’s status as a peaceful nation. The story I read suggested that the youth would be eligible for parole in seven years but that seemed unlikely.

If we have the crimes that are going on in this country how can we call our selves a peaceful nation?

As far as missing children go my family knows first hand what it is to have a missing child in Canada.
