What is America’s style of foreign policy? Many people think it’s bluff mainly with lots of habitual empty promises on American part. I guess we owe this to Condi. Condi Rice’s job in the context is sheer trash imo. I tend to think she enjoys being a dazzler rather (remember how she wowed the crowds in Wiesbaden by arriving in knee-high leather boots). And unfortunately she hates routine work. Add here her inability to admit to error and here you are with the conclusion. Rice is actually wildly nonprofessional as state sec though she is intelligent and energetic!
As her current job draws to an end it’s become painfully visible. With Condi there are always lots of words and one-sided benefits for America. They say even closest allies are sick and tired of that style …to say nothing of other countries. For latest elucidation see Rice’s last visit to Moscow in company with Def Sec Robert Gates. It was a failure actually (no results due to lack of any weighty proposals for Moscow). Meanwhile Bush with his rating downgraded absolutely needs any diplomatic success badly. I guess Moscow, a key international player now, could be very helpful in US Broader Middle East agenda e.g., in Iran and other countries of the region.
