  1. No, but they're gaining on the Clergy with remakable speed and could secure 1st place by 2010.
  2. Holy Moly. I hope that someone can find a way of sending Bush and his administrative cronies to prison when they leave office...........at the very least. What a disgusting (and frightening) display of arrogance, deceit and criminal treachery. The current administrations irreverance concerning international law and the Geneva Conventions is nothing new to the world- but to circumvent their own laws and principles in order to establish some sort of "Neo-Conservative Autocracy" brings the French Revolution to mind. How dare they wield their power so foolishly. Seriously......."off with their heads".
  3. I voted for Harper and until now, I've been content with his fiscal philosophy. However with this kind of surplus, I find it improper to "throw it all" towards the debt. What I'd like to hear from our Prime Minister are the precise reasons for this............in detail. Miniscule tax cuts are hardley a good reason at this point in our time. Three or four billion could have been used to substantially reinforce our Arctic Sovereignty issues; more ice-breakers, submarines and Frigates to be exclusively deployed in our North West passage, not to mention economic development in the Arctic communities that need it most. Use it or lose it. Without a substancial pressence in our arctic waters..........the world powers will steal it from us. Make no mistake.......the Arctic IS OUR FUTURE AS A NATION. --- EDIT: This post was an opening post to a separate thread. It has now been merged with this currently active thread which deals with the same topic.
  4. Thanks for the heads-up. I'll be sure to follow up with this. I'm not looking for a cash settlement of course, but I'd like to see a fair system implemented for all of us. Automobiles are big ticket items in a society that considers a $1000 tax break a Godsend, so I think that Canadians would appreciate some equity when it comes to many thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars on auto purchases.
  5. I also like the fact that the multi-millionairs in Canada also collect Canada pension benefits.........with great pride no less! I've always said; if you're a low down greedy son of a bitch, you'll turn out one of two ways; in prison, or a mansion.
  6. So I was shopping for a new car a few months back. After driving everything of interest to me and researching the nuts and bolts, I had finally decided upon a Subaru. I went to the dealership with the intention of ordering my new car. WhooHoo! Then we started talking price. I suddenly became overwhelmed by a feeling of hopeless dread mixed with frothing anger! Subaru Canada wanted $49,000 CND (MSRP) for the vehicle + $1400.00 for PDI..... FIRM. The same car at a U.S. dealer (45 minutes from my front door step) "asks" $33,000 USD + $680 for PDI , offered incentives AND A Better Warranty! I contacted Subaru Canada about this, and guess what they told me? "Market conditions in Canada are different and their pricing reflects that". Well I had to agree............and politely hung-up. So I guess Canadians will continue to be FLEECED by the auto companies as long as we're dumb enough to keep filling their pockets with silly money ($16,400 EXTRA! on the above mentioned example). Then again, I guess the car companies don't pay attention to the value of currency (costs) when they build their cars eh? They just pay their suppliers whatever they ask for, and be done with it. They're not involved with the Wall Street crowd on any level. Jeepers creepers. Honda Civics are made in Ontario, and yet it's 30% cheaper to buy one in Hawaii as oposed to Toronto. I guess it's those "market conditions" again. Anyway, if anybody has a 68' Valiant for sale let me know.
  7. Becoming a Canadian doesn't mean bringing your failed system with you. It means embracing another system and a different way of life entirely. True Canadians know this and work within our structure to provide a better life for themselves, their neighbors and society as a whole. Unfortunately, many immigrants have elected to exploit the Canadian way of life and denounce our culture as being unsuitable for them. Instead of packing their bags and finding a country that will import their foolish/backward doctrine, they sit here in comfort and mock our society, and try to make our nation their own, like pestulant little children. Personally, I've had about enough of these insults to my nation, my culture and what we've offered these ungracious people. I'm sure that I speak for tens of millions of Canadians in saying so. They'd better change their tune in the future.
