  1. Why can't they give the Northwest Territories a real name like Yukon and Nunavut?
  2. An amendment to the Constitution officially changed the name of Newfoundland to Newfoundland and Labrador on December 6, 2001. The official abbreviations are: Newfoundland Nfld. https://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/obj/040006/f2/040006-02-e.pdf https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-s-name-change-now-official-1.279040 The ‘Newfoundland and Labrador’ naming fiasco https://theindependent.ca/2011/04/22/the-‘newfoundland-and-labrador’-naming-fiasco/ https://theindependent.ca/2011/05/06/the-‘newfoundland-and-labrador’-naming-fiasco-–-part-2-2/ Newfoundland and Labrador https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newfoundland_and_Labrador Population: Labrador - 30,000 Newfoundland - 500,000 I would prefer for Newfoundland and Labrador to be two separate provinces.
  3. So are you saying that the Crown would have to make the Canadian territories into provinces? By Crown, do you mean England would have to be involved? Who or what is Canada's Crown?
  4. So are you saying that if the territories became provinces, then the native tribes would no longer have control of their land? Or you are saying they will have to deal with a provincial government (new player) as well as dealing with the federal government?
  5. CANADA ELECTION RESULTS: 1945-PRESENT http://electionresources.org/ca/ 2019 2015 2011 2008 2006 2004 2000 1997 1993 1988 1984 1980 1979 1974 1972 1968 1965 1963 1962 1958 1957 1953 1949 1945

  6. CANADA FEDERAL ELECTION RULES: WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF... What would happen if the Conservative leader and the Liberal leader finished election night tied in the popular vote, and tied in the number of seats in Parliament? Would a prime minister not be chosen the same night? What would the next step be, and how many days after election night would it take for a prime minister to be elected? Andrew Scheer's conservatives got over 200,000 more votes than Trudeau's liberals, but the Liberals got more seats in Parliament. What if the Conservatives and Liberals finished tied in seats, and Andrew Scheer still got more votes than Trudeau? Would Andrew Scheer be prime minister, or would something else have to be done first, after election night? What if the conservatives and liberals finished tied in the popular vote, but one party got more seats in parliament? I guess then the election would be over and the party with more seats would win.
  7. Why isn't anyone pushing for the constitution to be amended to make Yukon, Nunavut and NWT provinces? I want them to be provinces already! What's taking so long! I'm tired of Canada having 10 provinces and three territories. It sounds so ancient. I want to say Canada has 13 provinces!! Who do I need to talk to? What should the name of NWT be changed to when it becomes a province?
  8. Alaska has lots of small islands. The whole thing is only called Alaska.
  9. So will the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut ever become provinces? Yes or no?
  10. It used to be called Newfoundland only. Why the change? What's the big deal? Who complained about it?
  11. It used to be called Newfoundland only. Why the change? What's the big deal?
  12. A province with a compound name: Newfoundland and Labrador. Why couldn't they just call the whole thing Newfoundland or Labrador? Michigan has two separate parts, but they called the whole state just Michigan. Nunavut have lots of islands, but the whole thing was called Nunavut. Are there any other examples anywhere in the world of a province or state with a compound name like Newfoundland and Labrador?
  13. Whose decision will it be to amend the constitution to make them provinces? Is it solely the Prime Minister or does it have to be voted on in Parliament? Would it be voted on in the house or the senate? Both?
