  1. They even got a mention of Ernesto in the article. Great batch of heroes they have over at Cannabis Culture.
  2. You know Jennie. I am not native. I do not have first hand experience of being native. But I can tell you this. I know that the name Indian was a mistake, since Columbus thought he was on his way to India. Nonetheless, there is nothing offensive about that. Seriously. Why in hell would someone make a big deal over the whole Indian thing? Someone can come on and blather about how offensive that term is and I dont care. They are trying to be offended. It's like this art teacher I had in high school. All of a sudden one year she got a whim to change the pronunciation of her last name to give it more of a french flair. And she would always correct you if you said her name the old way. It was as if you were deliberately trying to insult her. If I say so-and-so is French no one gets upset and says "you mean Francais". I have yet to hear a German tell me "you mean Deutschland." You know the name is not intended to be offensive, and there is nothing offensive about it, unless you hate people from India.
  3. Not necessarily. An inheritor does not have to be related. You can bequeath as you choose. No relation of mine has a DNA right to have anything of mine. My cousin cannot make a claim on guitar. If I leave it to him he can. Now if after my death, I leave a certain peice of land to my cousin...but through a certain mishap it ends up in the hands of someone else. I would not think it reasonable for someone 5 generations down the line to demand that the current tenants move out because they are descendants of my cousin. A battle over something your parents leave you in a will, and a battle over something your great great great grandfather had taken from him-----two different stories to me.
  4. Maybe comedy is not your forte.
  5. Was it a Christian community by rule of law, or simply because the majority of people in small communities, at that time it was settled, were Christian? Are people of other faiths prohibited from moving there?
  6. Actually it is a terrible analogy Jennie. I don't think anyone has to think about it very long before they can see that. If my immediate ancestor left me land, then that would make me the right inheritor. But if I found out that my great great great great grandfather owned some land that he was pushed off, which over the course of many years has changed hands, I don't think that is grounds for a claim. It would be ridiculous. The more appropriate analogy is the one another poster made about Marie Antionette's descendants - an analogy which no one has been able to provide an adequate answer to as of yet.
  7. Well, apparently the Conservatives didn't keep a database of religious affiliation either since the woman herself said "SHE WAS NOT AN OBSERVING JEW"
  8. I can tell you this much. Given the choice between America and China, Shavluk, I pick the home of the brave.
  9. Yep, it's a prerequisite. Did you see Dion foaming at the mouth when Harper was expressing his condolensces over Virginia Tech the day after? The outrage was not about the how genuine his sympathy was, but about his failing to acknowledge the anniversary of the most wonderful holy sacred Charter. They foam at the mouth constantly.
  10. Well, my Liberal MP does it. What party do you want me to vote for then? Between the greeting card party and the party who calls holding a press conference in the same room as the Lester B Pearson idol an attempt to overshadow the glorious history of Liberals, I will choose the lesser form of bullshit. How about that?
  11. Mr. Jefferiah feels that the Liberals are trying to exploit a measly greeting card for political gain.
  12. Once again, they did not collect religious data on her. Because had they done so, they would have known that as she herself says, she is not religious!!!!!
  13. Some people (Liberals) get quite offended by just about everything.
  14. Ah, but J, if Mrs. Kofman does not keep the holiday and is not Jewish aside from the family, maybe then your idea of such a list is out the window as well. See because apparently the Tories did not know her religion. So they can't be spying on her.
  15. lol.....you are out of this world J.
  16. I don't think that is a suitable parallel at all. If your MP sent you a Christmas card would you blow your top? How many Scotch Canadians actually celebrate Bobby Burns. You don't necessarily have to be a card carrying Christian to appreciate a Christmas card, because it is a holiday even atheists celebrate, I am sure (atheists of Christian background). I don't think it is so out of line to send a Jewish person a Rosh Hashannah card. Maybe aside from Mrs. Kofman, alot of other recipients thought it was a nice gesture. Old, Bold and Cold's rant is not far off the mark. This inflated complaint is completely reminiscent of Dion flipping his lid over the fact that the day after the Virginia Tech shootings, Harper failed to acknowledge the anniversary of the sacred holy Charter!! Or the time that the Liberals raised a huge to-do over the fact that the Tories held a conference in the same room as Lester B Pearson's most holy sacred idol, and put a backdrop in front of it, which was, in the minds of the Liberals, an attempt to hide from view the glorious history of Liberal achievement, even though Liberals held conferences in the exact same room with a backdrop in the exact same place. Given the choice between a party which turns every little thing into a huge crime and one which sends out greeting cards, the excessive whiners lose my vote.
  17. I think you and perhaps Mrs. Kofman, are over-analyzing a little here, JDobbin. Of course it has to do with politics, but its also a nice thing to do. Would you suggest that, instead of sending out Christmas and Rosh Hashannah cards, politicians should periodically send out cards which say "Bite me". Yeesh I wrote an email to the Democrat party once to ask the a question about something I cannot even remember now. The question was never answered. But since then I have apparently been added to Howard Dean's mailing list, and he is always sending me Happy this-and-that letters, complete with reasons why I should vote democrat. I am not American though. Businesses do the same type of thing with clients.
  18. Do junkies bite people generally? If and when a junkie bites me I might try to subdue him. But the word "beating" is a a bit much here isn't it Buffy? And if a fifteen year old doesn't know that you shouldn't bite a police officer (which is something I highly doubt), she just bloody well learned it now. "You have got to be kidding me? Mr. Nice Police Officer would have not used any kind of force - even if she had been polite?"--Buffycat This quote of yours shows me you have preconceived notions. "Had it been a white skinned girl, IMO, she would have simply been brought home."--Kuzadd Oh really? Never fails to astound me how psychic the left is. This reminds me of when Oprah was in Paris and wanted to buy a gift for a friend. She went to a certain store, and it was closed. There were employees inside, but it was after hours and they were having a meeting. Oprah banged on the window to get in, expecting that since people were there, they should open up shop just for her. A guard asked her to leave and come back the following day during store hours. And it was not long before Oprah announced to the world that the store was racist, and had it been Britney Spears they would have opened up shop for her. Same type of claim. Same type of nonsense.
  19. To me it just seems that Kuzadd's assertion that she is some scared little girl, is refuted by the fact that she resisted arrest and bit him. Scared little children don't bite cops and resist arrest. If you were scared you would be very "Yes Sir."
  20. "Is man not something to overcome?" Still into Neitzsche I see. Straight out of Zarathustra. Nah, Scott, he is not one of Shavluk's.
  21. And if the hypothetical Buffy reacted this way Betsy and went to the point where she bit an officer, would you describe her as a "scared" little girl?
  22. Yep. Hey Society, gimme gimme gimme gimme.
