  1. A new Brand... this makes me laugh. I heard a saying once... same $hit, different pile. This is an amazing spin by conservaties, almost a built in excuse for a poor showing -- or a potential way to make a victory even sweeter... Win-win... "aww, we only got 99 seats, this is a great showing for a first time party... it's a new brand to canadians" "Conservative Majority, what an amazing and historic event for a first time party, canadians have accepted this new brand." A Liberal v Conservative election... I can see how that is something new and unique to canadians. Kungfusion - not taking a dig at you, just something that I've heard quite a bit lately, and you happened to mention it.
  2. Come on Maple, lets not resort to wildly speculative dribble like this. 1 million to cross the floor, and for what? 136-137 seats instead of 135?? I know you Tory buffs are upset because by all rights, with recent scandals and a united right, you were handed this election. Come on, quotes like this are even more brutal than the "what a great showing for a first time party" crap I heard all night. First time party?? Ok, technically, but it comes off as a desperate act of trying to make everyone feel better. Flame away.
  3. Hey all, This link might have been posted already. If not, its a link where you answer 15 or so questions and it tells you what platform / political party you are most aligned with. Here's the thing, I'm not sure how much I trust it / if it has a bias or not. Try it out and let me know. I'm a liberal, but I turned up NDP (100). http://politicswatch.com/VoteSelectorQuiz2004.html I sent it to some people I know that dont know who to vote for to help them sort it out. JL
  4. Wow, I really love this forum, but my only beef is that -- as I've said before -- It's a conservative love fest. Where's all the liberal backers? I wish this discussion board was more representative of the polls... D'ah well.
  5. formely of New Brunswick... British Columbia now... LIBERAL
  6. I know that this site features a conservative love-fest, but with all the attacks Martin faced, he stood his ground and fired back with poise. 1st Half belongs to Martin...
  7. Say it's Harper, Prentice and Lord as the front runners... It's a wash when Lord and Prentice split the PC vote, right? Wouldn't it be best for the Tories to send only one man through?
  8. I should disclose up front that I'm not a supporter of the Conservative party. I lived in NB up until a few months ago, so I've been around for the two elections Lord won. I didn't vote for him, but let me tell you, I respect the man as a politician. He swept in with a HUGE majority in his first term over a Liberal party that had an extremely large and lenghty foothold in the province. Granted, it was a time when McKenna was gone and the provincial liberals had no real platform or vision -- and Lord made them pay. He came in with his 'list' of promises to the NB people, and swore if he didn't live up to them, he would resign as Premier. And he did it. He came in, said this is what I'll do, if I dont - you can hold me to it, and i'll resign. Simple politics. I think they have a better shot with Lord at the helm than Harper.
