  1. Nothing exists between communism and neoliberalism. Thanks for your input traveller.
  2. "Data (...) show that lower corporate taxes in and of themselves have mainly resulted in higher dividend payouts to shareholders and the accumulation of mainly financial assets, not an increase in capital stock and other investments which boost productivity and sustain and create good jobs. Government revenues have taken a big hit, without the expected upside of a stronger and more productive economy. The winners have been those who own company shares, notably Canada’s highly paid CEOs and other members of the top 1%." -Canadian Labour Congress
  3. But the investors only interest is making more money and not developing an healthy economy, as illustrated by the Subprime scandal. It's the real workers who then have to pay the bill. Are you calling Joseph Stiglitz an ignorant? My bad you probably ignore who he is.
  4. I suggest you read the study posted in the original post before you put words in my mouth. There's no black and white, but the study shows that our corporate tax breaks policy is a failure.
  5. The thing is, these tax cuts were designed so the savings made by the companies would be re-invested into the economy, it's the fundamental idea behind neoliberalist policies like this.
  6. The Canadian Labour Congress just published a study on the effects of the corporate tax cuts policy in Canada. Launched by the Liberals and continued by the Cons, these policies saw the corporate tax rates go from 30% in 2000 to 15% in 2011 (which costs the federal government aprox. 2 billion$/1%). Oh surprise, it seems like companies distribute their savings to shareholders instead of investing into the economy. What did Corporate Tax Cuts Deliver? - Canadian Labour Congress Neoliberals are either blind or in bad faith because it looks like they want to impose a larger fiscal burden on the working class that contributes concretely to economy while rich shareholders get even richer without contributing in any way to the economy.
  7. Just wanted to make sure you knew you were emitting a thesis based on stuff you made up yourself and no facts whatsoever.
  8. Submitted would be more appropriate.
  9. I saw some posters talk about an Iranian spring. It's funny because the US and their allies are creating the perfect conditions for the iranian people to rally around their Government because their sovereignty is being threatened more every day and the economic sanctions are affeciing their life conditions. If you go back to the 1979 Iranian revolution the Iraninans got rid of the Shah and then got attacked by Iraq with the support of the US. Since 1984 they've been imposed more and more economical sanctions. In 2002 Bush declares that they are in the Axis of Evil, while Pakistan, our ally, is a well known terrorist sanctuary, is very unstable, and DOES have the nuclear bomb. 2003, Iraq invasion and since then, I'm sure Iranians are truly excited at the idea of enjoying the same life conditions as their Iraqian neighbours. Now they get all this war propaganda from the US and their allies. And THEY are the ones acting as a threat for other countries??? Seems like they're acting defensively to me. People don't seem to realise that an Iran invasion could very well trigger a war with China, n°1 iranian oil importer.
  10. This is a ridiculous link to make. He said "ethnic votes" because of the fastened naturalization process prior to the referendum so the newly arrived immigrants could vote "no". We all know what the money aspect of his declaration refers to. Now, where does the jewish thing come in? Parizeau didn't combine money and ethnicity, he talked about 2 different causes for the '95 defeat. What you're saying is just intellectualy dishonnest and false. As for Quebeckers position on the Palestine-Israel conflict, most are on the palestinian side because of their fight for independance and their struggle to survive and not because they are anti-semitic as some of you are trying to label us. Yes, it is possible to have opinions against Israel while not being anti-semitic.
