US Economic Performance

What's that? Take home pay? -
Would it make any difference if 100% Albertans voted? I doubt it.

Liberals to dramatically increase immigration

I was merely quoting what Joe Volpe said, Argus. -

Yeah, it was little muddled, I was just trying to fit in. Still, I'm surprised that you, of all people, didn't get the point. Isn't it true that if one chooses to ply their trade in America first they're not as welcome to try it here as if they started here in the first place? -
Liberals contemplating fall election?

OH YES THERE IS! The last time many of us thought Paul Martin would turn on a dime and go rightwing. Now that we know what a chicken shit he is ... WATCH OUT! -
Liberals contemplating fall election?

Later or sooner Conservatives are going to win. And that's a promise! -
LOL I used to get banned, but it's all over now.

It doesn't matter. Engineers, taxi drvers ... we need them all. I heard Joe Volpe appealing to truck drivers just the other day, complaining that, and I quote: "About 6,000 long-haul trucks are sitting empty in New Brunwick because there aren't enough truckers." If he's putting truck drivers into a "skilled worker" category then surely, taxi drivers cannot be far behind. -
You obviously aren't as prone to tobacco addiction as most men are. I bet that if they put this on cigarette packages instead, more people would cut down. Listen: "Tobacco, divine, rare, superexcellent tobacco, which goes far beyond all the panaceas, potable gold, and philosopher's stones, a sovereign remedy to all diseases ... but as it is commonly abused by most men, which take it as tinkers do ale, 'tis a plague, a mischief, a violent purger of goods, lands, health, hellish, devilish and damned tobacco, the ruin and overthrow of body and soul." - Robert Burton (1577-1640)

Liberals to dramatically increase immigration

I agree with you Geoffrey. It ticks ME off, for instance, when I see immigrants who are confident enough in their skills to give the U.S. the first kick at the can, are then being frowned upon by Canada if & when they, for WHATEVER reason, don't succeed down there. Yet Canadians who actually ARE given the opportunity to prove themselves by being given temporary Green Cards, but flunk out, are then always welcomed back home to a big fanfair ... with cushy jobs in their field of expertise waiting for them in many cases. Canada must realize that confidence counts, and that those immigrants who were confident enough to try out in the U.S. first, but did not succeed, are most likely still only second best to those who did. Thus they should be given a crack at temporary Canadian landed immigrant status instead of letting in those whose confidence is lacking. -

How the hell did you manage that? Did you enlist? Deserted? Got hitched? -

LOL At least he won't to go hungary. -
Stephen Harper remembers more than anyone the old Reform Party's blabbermouth ways ... how they always revealed their great ideas way too early thus giving the Liberals time to adopt the best ones into their own platform come election time. Stephen Harper will not spill his guts before its time.

I like your confidence, but let me warn you ... it is is much harder for a Canadian to move there than it is for just about anyone else in the civilized world. What do you have that we don't, eh? -
That's the Liberal party line - but it's BS. Eureka was uncharacrtristicly wrong on several occasions in this thread, but this is not one of them. At least not if Canadian doctors were allowed to fully utilize these new technologies, as the doctors elswhere are. And also, if they were more prudent in prescribing insurance covered drugs as the others are the cost would drop.

Ok ... so I used the vernacular. Most people say they're "paying their medicare bill". Picky picky. But hey ... you did worse..."Healthcare premiums don't have anything to do with medicare."????? So what DO the healthcare premiums pay for, hotdogs at the ballpark? And incidently ... are you a closet big time socialist? Socialists love to tell you what to do with extra money. Usually by taking it from you. Conservatives like to put the money in your pocket & let YOU decide how you want to spend it. On healthcare premiums or a bottle of rum. Your choice. That's our Ralphie!

"Jealousy, thy name is Canada" is the heading of Don Martin's article today in answer to your calling it screwbally & whismical . "Canada is bloody jealous!" he goes on to say. I agree! Tha Alaskans have enjoyed this whismical distribution of excess oil revenues among all it's citizenry ever since 1982. And I'm not talking a piddly $400 apiece here. This year they'll get over $1100. 2000 was their banner year, that's when they all pocketed a whooping $2400 plus. Now that's something to write home about.

Neither of them are known for their charm or as being great entertainers at dinner parties so one must suspect that they also didn't fit with her idea of prime ministerial material. "The time has come for Stephen Harper to stop dreaming that his destiny is 24 Sussex Drive. That day will only come if one of its residents invites him over because they are looking for a stick-in-the-mud dinner guest" - Carol Jamieson
