I started school in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1969. At that time "The Pledge" recited at opening excercises was: I promise, that I will be loyal, to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and Canada. That I will honour the flag, observe the laws of my country, and fulfill my duties as a Canadian citizen, God be my helper. Hope this helps!
