My hunch is based on evidence in the US showing the districts with the highest anti-Muslim sentiments are in the places where few if any Muslims live. But for some reason they think the Muslims are coming to impose sharia law on them!

I wanted to see if you could elaborate on your theory that Muslims are awful. It doesn't leave much to go on.

People like this have to reflexively defend Islamic terrorism and barbarism because in their minds most Muslims are 'brown people' and they've devoted their lives to being the great protector and defender of 'brown people'. They've got nothing else going for them so they've made this their religion. They think they're standing high on a pedestal, nobly looking out with a scowl at all who would criticize their beloved brown people, ready to pounce with invective and social justice condemnation!
