the canadian senate was created so the Prime Minister could appoint his rich friends to make sure the lower class in the HoC didn't make stupid decisions. In todays Canada, it isn't really a necessity but i do believe in still having a Senate because they can be a valuable resource when it comes to large Bills. Canada has a long history of opening constitutional issues and when they do, it's dangerous to leave it to just the HoC. Same goes for any large and important bills. But they should be elected no doubt, one for every riding.

the problem isn't why politicians don't get it, it's how to do it. The conservatives have it gone, they don't give a damn about public health care, it costs way too much for not many results. The only way to "reform" it is not necessarily to make people pay, but to literally "reform" or change how the system works. again the question is How, but it would take a complete systematic change, not just introducing fees. One solution is to reform our public hospitals but also allow private hospitals to present themselves as options so people could decided to pay in full for their healthcare or risk waiting long for free health care. My ideal system would be that we could let people choose either public or private, but i would never want to see a completely private system. The best thing to do right now would be to start drawing up plans to change how our public system works without charging the public.

I just took a read through the NDP platform and I don see where all the money is coming from for all their ambitions. Can anyone explain?

This post is to help Youth and other Canadians get involved and help create a New Political Party that they will be happy with as an alternative to the Conservative Majority. In 4 years, a party like this could be a very big threat in the elections.
