gerryhatrick Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 The Washington PostUpdated: 6:14 a.m. CT Dec 6, 2006 WASHINGTON - Forget the minimum wage. Or outsourcing jobs overseas. The labor issue most on the minds of members of Congress yesterday was their own: They will have to work five days a week starting in January. The horror. snip "Keeping us up here eats away at families," said Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), who typically flies home on Thursdays and returns to Washington on Tuesdays. "Marriages suffer. The Democrats could care less about families -- that's what this says." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16065625 I would laugh if this didn't make me want to cry. In case you missed the irony, soldiers are working IN IRAQ, AWAY FROM FAMILY for 7 days a week, 365 days a year, often for more than a year. This rightwing eliteist complains that having to work 5 DAYS A WEEK for ONE MONTH is going to put a strain on his family???? It's a typical right-of-center only care about yourself kind of attitude.
