gerryhatrick Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Liberal leadership hopeful Bob Rae says Vancouver port needs upgradeCAMILLE BAINS VANCOUVER (CP) - Liberal leadership candidate Bob Rae says a national economic agenda needs a B.C.-specific focus so Canada can tap into the western province's potential. In his speech to the Vancouver Board of Trade on Monday, Rae said the "B.C. advantage" needs to be trumpeted throughout Canada and the world. He said that as the gateway to the Pacific Rim the Vancouver port needs upgrades to draw a larger share of trade and he would ensure that happens. snip Rae said Prime Minister Stephen Harper doesn't understand the importance of the two growing economic powerhouses. "Mr. Harper is, I'm sad to say, the first prime minister we've had in a very long time who simply doesn't get it about China and Asia. "He's not yet had a meeting with the Chinese ambassador in Ottawa, which is extraordinary. "As Canadians we have to embrace these changes and embrace these countries and embrace what their change means to Canada." http://www.macleans.ca/topstories/news/sho...ontent=n091872A I think this guy will be it. From what I saw of the debates he's the stand-out. Quote Conservative Party of Canada taking image advice from US Republican pollster: http://allpoliticsnow.com
