windyman
Elizabeth 2 could dismiss Prime Ministers, veto bills without threat of an override, commit war crimes with the UK military and get away with it, stay in power for life, and live in Buckingham palace. Could Bush do any of these??? NO

Could Bush do any of these??? NO Bush could live in Buckingham Policy if he married Charles in a same sex marriage. Then, together, he and Charles could do all those things. And Elizabeth could roll over in her grave.
Shuriken
Could the queen do any of that without facing a mass revolt?
jdobbin
Could the queen do any of that without facing a mass revolt? It's rather doubtful. I have no idea what her real powers are but I don't think if she did anything other than act as a figurehead, it would be the end of the Royal Family. Machinations
Could Bush do any of these??? NO Do any of us doubt that if he had the authority, he would? I, for one, am glad we no longer live under despots. Sure, there are monarchists in Canada, but they are dinosaurs, and I am hoping this generation will see us sever our outdated, symbolic, costly association to the Britsh Monarchy. I for one feel no special affinity for the woman or her overprivileged spawn.
