leewgrant Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 This would be a shame. The African continent really needs some good news. There is also a report that the US Soccer Association has been approached to see if the contest could be held in the US. No approach on World Cup 2010REPORTS Australia has been asked to prepare to host to 2010 World Cup if South Africa cannot meet the challenge are yet to reach the ears of the Federal Government. Afrikaans newspaper Rapporthas reported the poor state of South African infrastructure, high crime levels and the AIDS epidemic might lead to South Africa losing the cup to Australia.... http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...867,19690996-17 Quote
Toro Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 This is just conjecture. The newspaper is fishing. Nothing new has happened to think that the tournament would be pulled from South Africa. These were issues before the World Cup was first awarded to South Africa. Quote "Canada is a country, not a sector. Remember that." - Howard Simons of Simons Research, giving advice to investors.
geoffrey Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 I'm liking going to go to WC 2010 along with the Van city olympics that year, and I'd rather see them in South Africa. I've never been to Africa, and it would be a much more unique experience than going to Melbourne or Sydney. I think this would apply to all western nationals, it'd be a unique experience to see something other than the usual. That being said, South Africa is likely one of the least African of the African countries, so maybe not. Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --

Of course they said the same thing about Greece before the Olympics and that went off well. Even if things looked bad there would huge pressure on some of the richer countries to help RSA out to ensure the WC goes ahead there. Quote
