Most well-off Calgarians live just outside the city, because we have tons of beautiful acerages just waiting to be developed into amazing homes. If you've got unlimited capital, come live out just south of the city(not so far out that you are on septic!). Off in Hawk (or is it Eagle?) Ridge west of Calgary on Highway 8 is beautiful as well, your looking over a million for some of those. Discovery ridge is in the $500k-700k range.

Elbow Park is the traditional old rich people in the city place, and Palliser is the Jewish dominated area. One of the houses has this castle design with a ton of gargoles and one of the gargoles is actually the chimney! Just realised this on the way home yesterday, anyone that takes 14th Street SW will know what I'm talking about.

Mount Royal is a trendy expensive place where you don't get much for your money, but if your into the trendy dealy, go there.

Some other rich places that I don't know much about... Pump Hill... Signal Hill... and these weird houses overlooking downtown by SAIT, though I don't even know what the community is called.

You find plenty of new developments in the $300-$400k range right now.

My advice, stick to the SW or NW if possible. The city gets poorer, more crime ridden and dirtier the more East and North you go. The exception is the developments in the far SE, Mackensie, Douglasdale, ect.

But really, the thing to do is move just out of the city, if you can find a place to do so. That's what Alberta is all about right, the country living?

I can recommend a great realtor to you if you are moving out here, PM me and I'll get you the contact info.

Hi Geoffrey,

Thank You for answering my question it was very kind of you. I love the name Elbow Park very neat indeed.

My guess is (and I'm willing bet on it) that in Vancouver's Point Grey area lays the most expensive piece of residential property in all of Canada.

Where in Point Gray, you ask?

Cameron Street, of course!

My uncle owns 13 acres just down near heritage point golf course. About 10 minutes south of the city.

I'm not far from that. Best place in the country to live out here.
