U.S. abuse continued in wake of Abu Ghraib

By Eric Schmitt and Carolyn Marshall The New York Times

SUNDAY, MARCH 19, 2006

As the Iraqi insurgency intensified in early 2004, an elite Special Operations forces unit converted one of Saddam Hussein's former military bases near Baghdad into a top-secret detention center.

There, American soldiers made one of the former Iraqi government's torture chambers into their own interrogation cell. They named it the Black Room.

In the windowless room, some soldiers beat prisoners with rifle butts, yelled and spit in their faces and, in a nearby area, used detainees for target practice in a game of jailer paintball.

Another situation that got out of control for the US. Why?

Lack of leadership. Confusion over instructions from civilian leadership.

Oh, the NY Times is still dragging out a 2 yr old story. Whatsa matter? They still can't find evidence of Bush missing a medical exam 30+ years ago in TANG?

Excuse me, while I pull out my nanotech violin and play the saddest f'ing song in the universe...

If only Gerry could muster 1/10th of the outrage for the terrorists that he has for the Americans.

Call me when the US starts sawing off the heads of jihadists.

"Anybody who doesn't appreciate what America has done, and President Bush, let them go to hell!" -- Iraqi Betty Dawisha, after dropping her vote in the ballot box, wields The Cluebatâ„¢ to the anti-liberty crowd on Dec 13, 2005.

"Call me crazy, but I think they [iraqis] were happy with thier [sic] dumpy homes before the USA levelled so many of them" -- Gerryhatrick, Feb 3, 2006.

Actually, this article documents some later incidents, including some as recent as Sept/05.

It also alleges newer detainment centers "shrouded in secrecy".

Ah yes. More of the typical Monty sarcasm in lieu of presenting a real argument.

If only Gerry could muster 1/10th of the outrage for the terrorists that he has for the Americans.

And still more.

Call me when the US starts sawing off the heads of jihadists.

More again, as though two wrongs make a right.

BTW, still waiting for a reply to this...... http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums/index.p...ndpost&p=104408 .......which is self explanatory.

It's a new story. Brand new. Breaking news as of the topic post date.

Over and over again you seem unable to comprehend the simplest of concepts. Maybe slow down and double-check everything before you post. I don't know what else to suggest.

Here's a question for Jerry.

If the media is so "lefty" - as you say - why have they let this story languish? More apologetic behaviour for the Bush administration?

The media allowed Bush to waltz into Iraq with hardly a peep or a challange. Now we have this new story of a secret prison riddled with detainee abuse and it passes on by.

'splain for us JS?
