Argus Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Andre Thompson, arrested with a stolen handgun in the subway just after the boxing day shooting had served a grand total of 30 days in jail for an armed robbery, and was released only a few weeks ago. He was charged with robbing a convenience store, charged with carrying an immitation firearm during the crime, wearing a mask and assaulting a police offiver in his attempt to resist arrest. For this he gets 30 days. Most of the charges were withdrawn in excahnge for his guilty plea and a light sentence. He was on probation at the time he commited the convenience store robbery and violating a curfew given him after a previous assault conviction - a conviction for which he spent 2 days in pre-trial custody and then was given probation. Despite violating the conditions of his probation he was not punished after being arrested for the robbery. Thompson has been arrested and convicted on 4 seperate occasions, but most of the charges against him were withdrawn in exchange for pleas and he has served little time in prison. This is the Liberals idea of a justice system. This is the type of guy the NDP says is the victim of our neglect and our lack of empathy for their hardship. They talk about building basketball courts and building community bridges. What neither of them talk about is putting scum like him in prison for the rest of their lives. Argus, The Liberals are begining to take seriously what danger the bad guys pose to "ordinary citizens": Bail denied for Montreal man The man accused of assaulting Foreign Affairs Minister Pierre Pettigrew at a Montreal subway station was denied bail on Friday. After hearing Estelle was treated for depression several years ago and has recently had suicidal thoughts, the judge said he can't be sure Estelle doesn't pose a threat to public safety. The government instead has closed jails and prisons, laid off police and prison guards all in an effort to save money, but the reality is that without sending these goons to prison for lenghty terms, nothing is going to change. Instead of getting serious with criminals, politicains have taken the kid-glove approach in the hopes that these criminals will change their ways. Ontario politicians call for handgun ban CTV.ca News Staff Toronto Mayor David Miller and Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty have called for a handgun ban, in the wake of the city's Boxing Day shootout. Miller has urged all Torontonians to support whichever party would implement such a ban in the federal election. This news article should show the people just how out of touch with reality politicians really are, when they pass laws that make it easier for criminals to florish, and avoid punishment, and hand guns are already virtually banned in Canada, tet that hasn't stopped the criminal element from gaining possession of them. ANy Canadian with a few connections could probably buy a handgun on the streets within a day. One thing we can be sure of is that if these criminals are behind bars they will not be on the streets to repeat the offense. Of course that is not what organizations like the John Howard Society, and Elizabeth Fry would want to see, because their sources of income would dry up. Quote
Slim MacSquinty Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 I propose a ban on bad weather during weekends, I'll bet I can get David Miller to support that too. Quote

In Canada, throwing some books at people is probably taken more seriously than others. Throwing the Bible at someone would probably not be taken as seriously as throwing some OTHER books. Which means Miller is urging people to vote Liberal. This poor child isn't in the ground yet, and Miller has gone political with her memory. If I were part of her family, I'd spit in his face at the earliest opportunity. Absolutely pathetic. Quote The government should do something.
