fellowtraveller Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 You can be sure that the Liberal power elite is finding Mr. Dithers sadly lacking lately. He's also old, and looking older every week. They can't turf him now, not until he takes the heat for Adscam fully and completely....or.... gets the Libs off the hook at least partially. Either way, he is badly damaged goods and a liability. He's a liability now actually, but circumstances prevent a change. My predicted timeline:- Libs succeed in deferring an election until early next year. If they manage that(which they will), they'll win another minority. Martin will be gone soon after. Next leader/PM: Frank McKenna. Quote The government should do something.
last_niceguy Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 I would think that the Minister of Finance would go before Martin goes. Today during question period he was asked when he would resign. I can see it as a possibilty especially after the comments he made a few weeks ago about Martin's new additions to the budget. You would think that a PM who is a former Minister of Finance (who could not count very well) would understand the hardship these new additions are causing his Minister... Newfie Canadian Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 I suspect Martin will only resign if the Liberals erley ttrounced in the next election. He'll never resign as PM, but he will resign as party leader. Quote "If you don't believe your country should come before yourself, you can better serve your country by livin' someplace else." fellowtraveller Posted May 2, 2005 Author Report Posted May 2, 2005 Guaranteed he is gone, win or lose, after the next election. Things have not gone to plan at all for the Libs since Chretien left. Quote The government should do something.
