Doc Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Struggle against corruption in the Georgian way Georgian corruption arises only partly from the dire economic situation in the country. Simply instead of making every effort to eliminate corruption our country’s leaders use shady ways to confiscate money of involved in corruption process people. These sums of money are channeled to various funds (for instance, Fund of the Defense Ministry or the Interior Ministry). But it doesn’t improve the situation. On the contrary! Tax concealment is practised on wider scale in Georgia now. The rules and schemas of such disposition of confiscated money were come into general use by the rising star of our newly cabinet of ministers - Irakly Okruashvili, our present Minister of Defense. He shouts at all corners that he fights for fulfillment of National Anti-Corruption Program and the Presidential Degree #95. But in reality the lion’s share of confiscated money is settling his own bank accounts and current accounts of his family’s members. I hear recently through stooge firms Okruashvili’s relatives have purchased immovables in Ageless (Spain) and in Marmaris (Turkey). A good business! Quote
GeorgianAbroad Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 I don’t know where you are living, Doc. But it’s obvious that you are conversant with corruption problems in Georgia quite well. It leaps to any eye here, in Canada. But it’s pleasant for me to hear the voice of my countryman. The matter is that recently I’ve removed to Canada. And I dream to continue my little vine business here. That is why I don’t plan to break off relations with my business-fellows in Georgia, who are well-informed about widespread corruption in our Motherland. And certainly all of us know very well such persons as mentioned “super-minister of Georgia” Okruashvili. He began his carrier’s fly on the post of Deputy Minister of Justice, and then he became Prosecutor General, Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Defense. So in fact he inspects almost all main spheres of life. And nature of source of his incomes is no surprise for me, as well as for all my friends in Georgia. And I’d add that he and circles of present Georgian elite not only rich grow through such “struggle against corruption” but they also use mentioned schemas against their own politic competitors and business rivals of their clan’s members. theloniusfleabag Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 Dear Slavik44, Can you say 'troll poster?' Say, 90% of the last few hundred 'new members' with 2 or less posts each? Some with more? Quote Would the Special Olympics Committee disqualify kids born with flippers from the swimming events?
