Slavik44 Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Police when they are called to deal with a domestic dispute can now get details if there are any firearms located at the residence. If there are registered guns there the police will decide upon their course of action accordingly. And no the system is not perfect, but what system is. Police use the system regardless of what the gun fanatics say. and the gun registry fails to do any good despite what the anti-freedom communists say. Slavik44 Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Another Gun Mythology Myth bites the dust.WHO ARE THE RESPONSIBLE SHOOTERS? Kinda shoots to crap the nonsense about all these law-abiding gun owners, eh! Gun lobby representatives often speak about 'Law Abiding Shooters' as though 99.9% of gun owners could be placed in that category. Police checks in several of Melbourne's Eastern suburbs have recently shown that about half the number of gun owners do not store their guns legally. May I ask how exhaustive, this police search was? May I ask how one can draw conclusions from a few east melbourne suburbs and make implications about the rest of the word? you are telling me that you trust the results of a few hundred police searches in a few suburbs of one city in a country in the middle of an ocean to represent all gun owners on this planet? No wonder you support the gun registry, as I said a recent survet determined I was God. Quote The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Argus Posted December 14, 2004 Author Report Posted December 14, 2004 Another Gun Mythology Myth bites the dust.WHO ARE THE RESPONSIBLE SHOOTERS? Kinda shoots to crap the nonsense about all these law-abiding gun owners, eh! Even more shocking, MS, I've heard there are secret statistics which PROVE that automobile owners violate the highway traffic act to a shocking degree!! Every single day they exceed the speed limits, fail to signal before turning, make unsafe lane changes, and go through red lights! Hundreds of people die because of this every year! Can you believe it!?? All those people who own cars should be locked up! Society would be infinitely safer without em. Police use the system regardless of what the gun fanatics say. As has already been pointed out to you several times police must presume there might be a weapon at any such residence anyway. Having a gun registry - even if it weren't marred by massive incompetence and errors in descriptions, addresses and names, would change nothing. On the other hand, if you hired 10,000 cops with the money we spent on the registry and put them into border enforcement against smugglers, and into strike teams to arrest those selling and buying illegal weapons you would wind up making society considerably safer.
