Caesar, my mind is not bound up in a straitjacket of ideology and party politics as yours seems to be. Consequently I am free to take whatever position on any given issue seems most logical and sensible.

Yeah right. You diss anything and everything the Canadian government does. Whining about this legislation shows you to be a sick puppy.

And speaking of hypocrisy...

Aren't you on the support board today demanding an ignore feature because some posters are rude and can't debate without engaging in personal insults?

Dear Argus,

With what educational background do you dismiss their suggestion?
Oddly enough, logic and business experience. Market economy. If there is a market, there will be a supplier.

The pedophile is an incurable predator within our society. The argument that "it is better to supply them with kiddie-porn and keep them whacking off in their basement than roaming the streets" is a rose-coloured glasses look on the issue.

Ok, rather than prosecute pedophiles for their "non-harmful' and uncontrollable behaviour, lets hand them over to the parents of molested children and let them dispense what justice they see fit. Some of them might actually be forgiven.

Would the Special Olympics Committee disqualify kids born with flippers from the swimming events?

I was watching a documentary on National Geographic, and the suject was "sex and animals".

One of the segments depicted various animal species that would engage in sex with "child" animals when no available adult mate was to be had.

I know we like to consider ourselves Superior on the list of the Animal Kingdom.

But what if behaviors like Child porn and the like are not choices, but one of our Natural Instincts kicking in?

Science has proven "Throw Back" genes : say you are white, your mate is white, but 300 years ago you had a black anscestor, you could have a black child.

Is it possible that some people's desire for children is a animalistic, Natural(though detestable), "Throw Back" gene?

B/c, we are Animals, after all!!!

That is pretty much the same sort of thing which used to be said about homosexuals, back when it was illegal to practice homosexuality.

I think the same arguement applies to them.

It's very hard to reject what turns you on. Have you ever tried? Sexuality is a powerful driving force.

In an animal, I expect it to overpower reason, in a human, I have higher expectations.

You cannot put someone in prison because they have a sexual fantasy you dislike.

In this case, the law says you can, and I want it made harsher. As a Conservative, there aren't many "civil liberties" battles I think I can win, but this is certainly one of them...society isn't sympathetic to pedophiles.

What if animals don't base their behaviours on instinct? What if they base them on reason? What if we have superior reason and can therefore be expected to behaved in a civilized manner?

Maybe humans should be able to control animalistic impulses, but a large portion of our population is no smarter than an arranguatang(sorry about spelling)!

That is not the question. The question is does the supply create the market. There is no evidence it does. None. I can look at kiddy porn, or, for that matter, foot fetish porn, or bestiality porn, and I'm not going to get the urge to chew on toes, have sex with horsies, or molest children. Pictures/videos/stories do not cause people to become paedophiles or to molest kids.
The pedophile is an incurable predator within our society.
There is no evidence to support that statement either. It is true that "some" paedophiles prey on children. However, it appears the majority never do.
The argument that "it is better to supply them with kiddie-porn and keep them whacking off in their basement than roaming the streets" is a rose-coloured glasses look on the issue.
No, it is a classic Trudeauism (one of the very few I ever agreed with) about the state having no business in the bedrooms - or basements - of the nation. Absent demonstrated harm it's none of your business what people fantasise about or what they do in their basement.

After all, who's to say someone might not find some of your fantasies disgusting and want you in prison for them?

What, that homosexuals choose to be homosexual?

You are not arguing as a conservative. A real conservative doesn't want the state interfering in people's lives without demonstrated, proven need. He certainly doesn't want the government putting people in prison because people don't have sympathy for them.

Most people who molest children, you know, are not paedophiles, but parents. In fact, you would do far more to reduce child sexual abuse by getting rid of alcohol than by executing paedophiles.
