Thorn Posted August 18, 2011 Author Report Posted August 18, 2011 Sez me. Criminals have no more rights than you or I. So strike that one. Our Justice system is one of the best in the world (needs improvements as Bev Mac said) according to the link/ Strike that. Done a lot of comparative analyses, have you, of Sweden's justice system, and France's, and Australia's? Quote
Thorn Posted August 18, 2011 Author Report Posted August 18, 2011 Judging by his reaction, it stung. You arent the only one ! God, it's like dealing with little boys around here, gleeful when they think they've gotten a rise out of someone. Don't mistake my contempt at your boorish ignorance for being upset. Quote
guyser Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 Done a lot of comparative analyses, have you, of Sweden's justice system, and France's, and Australia's? Didnt need too. Your link provided that little gem . when it comes to the overall quality of justice dispensed by the courts, Canada ranks very favourably when compared to 62 other nations. D'oh ! Next time you want to pontificate about some thing you dont like, dont link it to comething that contradicts you. Quote
Thorn Posted August 18, 2011 Author Report Posted August 18, 2011 (edited) What high lawyers fees? As I said, the average fee is $338 an hour, which is an absurd amount of money for a profession which essentially contributes nothing to society. Rather, in whole, they are parasites which drag down the economy with their massive wasteful processes and procedures. Er no, she talked about defunding services for legal aid. And why do you think that would be done, hmm? Except that the drain on money is so great from vastly overpaid lawyers. Oh bullshit it was the cause of rates rising. If there were no medical insurance, do you actually think doctors could charge the massive fees they do now? Not a chance. Nobody could afford them but the very rich, and there aren't enough of them to keep the doctors in business. No, there'd be thousands of doctors sitting around their operating rooms trying to clear out the spider webs, waiting for that once a year person to come along and pay them for an operation. Without medical insurance doctors fees would be a fraction of what they are now. Pick a cheaper lawyer, free market, dont like the cost ? Go somewhere else. Not hard to understand Given the public has essentially no way of assessing which lawyers are good and which aren't, which are honest, and which are frauds (most), and that most operate within a similar over compensated envelope, that's pretty pointless advice. But then, basically all your posts are pretty pointless. What we need to do is redesign the system. Any system which requires you purchase the services of parasites to explain it and fill out the forms at $500 an hour is a completely unjust system. Only a moron would defend such a system. Rather, in whole, they are parasites which drag down the economy with their massive wasteful processes and procedures. Dont sugar coat it, tell us how you really feel ! So you want someone to set the price point for lawyers do you? Free market, find a cheaper lawyer. How many times does one need to hear it? Stay off Bay St. And why do you think that would be done, hmm? Except that the drain on money is so great from vastly overpaid lawyers. Legal Aid lawyers are some of the lowest paid in the business. Defunding only removes more of the lawyers and causes backlogs in the court system, which will be your next rant, only you wont put two and two together. If there were no medical insurance, do you actually think doctors could charge the massive fees they do now? Obviously you are talking about the American system, but ok. Got to a US doc and you can negotiate quite reasonable cash rates should you wish. Nobody could afford them but the very rich, and there aren't enough of them to keep the doctors in business. No, there'd be thousands of doctors sitting around their operating rooms trying to clear out the spider webs, waiting for that once a year person to come along and pay them for an operation. Being a free market, those Docs sitting around might just go "hmmm....if I take less money I can fill the waiting room" Given the public has essentially no way of assessing which lawyers are good and which aren't, which are honest, and which are frauds (most), and that most operate within a similar over compensated envelope, that's pretty pointless advice. But then, basically all your posts are pretty pointless. Sez the guy who wants daddy govt to dictate lawyers fees How does the public assess which of these are good or not.... -contractors -plumbers -teachers -cops -assembly line workers -fast food workers -garderners? What we need to do is redesign the system. Any system which requires you purchase the services of parasites to explain it and fill out the forms at $500 an hour is a completely unjust system. Only a moron would defend such a system. I thought it was $338 ? Moron? thanks buttercup, but at least I understand the system and don't make assumptions without any basis Quote
Thorn Posted August 18, 2011 Author Report Posted August 18, 2011 Dont sugar coat it, tell us how you really feel ! So you want someone to set the price point for lawyers do you No, I want to redesign the system and law to make most lawyers obsolete and unnecessary. They are a huge waste of money to our economy and contribute NOTHING. Quote
guyser Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 No, I want to redesign the system and law to make most lawyers obsolete and unnecessary. They are a huge waste of money to our economy and contribute NOTHING. You want to take the free market out of the lawyer system, why not just admit it. You want to mandate lower fees. Not going to happen. I bet you David Millgard, or better Guy Paul Morin or Stephen Truscott dont agree with you. And the moment you need one, I trust you'll meet with the lawyer and first tell him what a fraud he is and how he is a huge waste to our economy and contribute nothing. Should be fun ! Quote
