Poor Bell, they can't seem to win.

Bell left with big bill for 'misleading advertising'

OTTAWA - The Competition Bureau has called out Bell Canada over its advertising.

The independent law enforcement agency says Bell has agreed to stop making what the Bureau called "misleading representations" about the price of its services and will pay a $10 million fine.

That's the maximum penalty allowed under the Competition Act.

The Bureau concluded that Bell had been charging more than it advertised for its home phone, Internet, satellite TV, and wireless services.

Since late 2007, Bell had promoted a price as low as $69.90 per month for bundled phone, Internet, and TV services.

But, the Bureau says no consumer could actually pay that price.

Once mandatory additional fees and equipment rentals were factored in, the actual minimum price rose to $80.27 monthly.

Overcharging customers for years and then having to send out millions in rebates. Now this.

Poor Bell, always getting caught.
