At a stop in Vaughan, Ontario Ignatieff lamented the failings of Conservative incumbent and candidate Julian Fantino. But that didn't stop Ignatieff from conducting the local band and having a dance. He then lamented the PM's tendency to scare people and his restrictions on reporters' questions.

“He walks around trying to make everybody frightened. Trying to make everybody scared of something or somebody,” he said. “Tries to make people scared of refugees, tries to make people scared of crime. ... Here’s the funniest thing of all, he tries to make people scared of democracy. I think democracy’s a pretty good thing, don’t you?”

---

“In a democracy you stand up, you’re accountable to the people. The power comes from the people. ... When the people want to ask you a question, you’ve got to stand up and answer the question as best you can,” Mr. Ignatieff said. “Mr. Harper has meetings where he doesn’t take questions from anybody. And when the press comes, he only take five questions from the press.”

So it was not lost on one reporter that Ignatieff did not make time to answer questions.

During his stop in Vaughan, however, Mr. Ignatieff only had time for shaking hands, signing books and posing for photos with babies. He didn’t make any time for questions from the local media.

With some people it's do as I say, not as I do.

So liberal said conservatives are stupid.

How smart of him!

I think anybody who is overly ideological and partisan is, if not outright stupid, sufficiently blind and unyielding that the end result is the same; a slobbering rhetoric spouting jerk.

Come on you guys! Trudeau, Martin and Chretien aren't running in this election (or the one before this either  ).

So those of us who have observed, over the past thirty years, a continual Liberal attitude of absolute contempt for truth, and absolute corruption in every aspect of their rule should just ignore that?

I notice Ignatieff has followed Paul Martin's path in befriending Canadian ethnics who support terrorism, just so long as they support him too.

It is an inverted moral calculus that tries to persuade the world to demonize one state that tries its civilized best to abide in a difficult time and place, and rides merrily by the examples and practices of dozens of states and leaderships that drop into brutality every day without a twinge of regret or a whisper of condemnation. - Rex Murphy

He pauses and recalls a Bruce Springsteen song, "The Rising," and launches into a riff on how voters seem to shrug off Harper's crimes against democracy. Contempt of Parliament? "People say, well, so what?" Cutting off questions? "So what?" Smearing Helena Guergis? "So what?" Crooks in the PMO? "So what?" Trying to scrap students' votes in Guelph? "People say, well, so what?"

Ignatieff then scans the crowd and shouts.

"Rise up! Rise up, Canada! Rise up!"

The crowd got what they were looking for, and more. They rose and applauded and kept clapping as Ignatieff roared on.

"Rise up! Rise up!"

I saw that clip on CPAC and at first was stunned into silence, a rare thing for me. Then I started laughing. For an instant he looked like a preacher about to do a laying of the hands to heal a sinner.

Today in North Van. Ignatieff said:

"The future of health care is in the Canadian home".

Ahh, so that's how we'll fix health care for a generation.
