Immigration And Who Do We Want

The British press was agog recently with the trial of Ian Huntley, who was eventually convicted for the murder to two eleven year old girls. He tried to hide his crime by cleaning his home thoroughly and burning the bodies and the girls clothes. He was abetted in this crime by his girlfriend, Maxine Carr, who lied about where she was at the time of the girl's disappearance. For a couple of weeks this distracted the attention of the police from Huntley, who was being investigated for other sexual crimes with young girls. In the end Huntley was given two consecutive life sentences and Maxine Carr was given a sentence which will set her free no later that May of this year.

Although I have seen nothing in the Canadian or British press about it, my sister heard on the British news that Carr is to be given a new identity upon her release from prison and shipped off to Canada for a new life far from those people in the UK who might recognise her.

I wrote to my MP, James Lunney, about one month ago but so far have received no reply. My concern is that the average Canadian will not welcome someone like this into our midst and I asked him to raise the question so that we might resist having this woman foisted upon us. Who knows where she may choose to settle or whose neighbour she may eventually be. Do you want her living next to you?

Given the stringent rules we apply to other immigrants, why do we need someon like Maxine Carr here?

Please do your homework and if you agree that we don't want her here, write to your MP. Maybe yours will take the time to reply.

What stringent rules? You must be kidding. Maxine Carr could cross the border and say she feared being persecuted in the UK, and she'd be welcomed by Cdn. immigration officials with open arms as a "refugee."

I'm not sure what can be done. The LPOC are big fans of the notion that murderers serve their sentences and then have a "fresh" start , tabula erasa and all the wonderful stuff.

Some good books are out by Francis and others on Immigration. Recently the NP ran an article decrying the fact that only 20 % of immigrants are here for work, 60 % are here on family plans, 40 % are Islamic, 2/3 speak neither French nor English well enough to garner jobs. As well the IRB is notorious for patronage, corruption and ineffectiveness and Martin has promised its overhaul. The entire system once based strictly on points and economic need, is now a post modern hodge podge of social humanism and emotionalism.

Bin Laden could if he so chose, walk into the Cdn Embassy in Karachi and declare himself a refugee. Under the CoR's he would be granted asylum until his case was 'heard'. This takes on average 2 years.

Canada or Canadance [since France is our new best friend], has one of the world's worst immigration systems.

But don't expect reform in Canadance - after all the country is perfect.

The reason we have one of the worst immigration systems in the world is because we take a socialist view of it, the same way we do most other things concerning foreign policy. If they claim to need help, we are required to help them (by our own ideas, not anyone else's).

What we need is a "Canada First" policy, which I know has been proposed many times before now, and is still quite relavent. We don't peacekeep overseas unless we have a genuine capability, and we don't let people in unless they have something to offer. Once we solve our problems at home, then we can look at refugees and other questionable immigrants. Criminals, on the other hand, should not even be considered. Just take the refugee claim, and burn it.
