The Idea of The Strong to Rule
Contrarian posted a topic in Moral & Ethical IssuesBelieving in the idea of the "strong to rule" can have bad consequences. It implies that only the strong should survive and that weaker individuals should be left to struggle and possibly fail. This kind of thinking is reminiscent of Adolph's dangerous ideology. One day, I was at my friend's house and noticed that his dog was having trouble climbing the stairs. My initial thought was to let the dog struggle and figure it out on his own. However, my friend had a different approach. He went down the stairs and started motioning with the dog to come up. He did this three times, and on the third try, the dog finally made it up the stairs. This experience made me think about the dangers of such thinking. While it may seem logical to let the weaker struggle and hope they make it in the brawl of life, it's important to remember that helping others is needed. The lesson learned from my friend helping the dog that day extends beyond just pets; it's a reminder that ALL HUMANS have a tendency towards this kind of thinking, and one must actively work to resist it and try to chose different approaches. It is true also, that sometimes, you need to let one figure it out by themselves, finding out when to assist seems to be the key. Sometimes too much assistance can also hurt, if one does not want to push themselves too. Timing is everything, is my estimation.
Poll: Cats or Dogs?
Contrarian posted a topic in Arts and CultureThis was in the early 2000s. Have had enough of politics for today and I just remembered this story. I finally arrived at my friend's home after a long day. I was looking forward to relaxing and enjoying a delicious steak dinner while debating and arguing world issues as 2 average Joes. As I entered the apartment, I noticed a strange sensation on my face, it was as if tiny, furry little creatures were tickling me. I walked into the living room, I suddenly realized what was going on. The entire apartment was covered in a thick layer of cat hair. It was everywhere. I tried to ignore the hair and focus on the steak, but every time I took a bite, I felt a hair in my mouth. As I sat there, trying to enjoy my meal while dodging the floating cat hair, I couldn't help but be annoyed. I had always been a dog person, and this experience confirmed my BIAS, that definitely Dogs are my preferred pet. 😄😄😄 Cats or Dogs?
